Isles of Glencoe Hotel & Leisure Centre

We had dinner here last night. Really busy restaurant but good service and a super meal. It is pricey but we had a sharing seafood platter for starters which was tasty, good value, the wine was delish and then langoustines for a treat, tbh hubby’s steak wasn’t very good quality but that was our only issue. Good portions etc. Knowing that they service coach parties helped explain why some dishes were sold out at 7.30. Need a sign on the conservatory door. It slammed every time someone went out. The views are fabulous so you wouldn’t want to move. Staff were friendly and helpful.

Hotel room was clean and beds reasonable, however there are a few problems in the hotel. Whilst midges can be a problem in the area very few were present during our stay, however the restaurant window sills are covered in dead midges and flies these could simply be wiped down every few days. Breakfast/restaurant staff were also very new preferring to talk together than attend and clear tables or provide the bill, this seems to be a training issue as the staff seemed very pleasant, we therefore ate elsewhere on subsequent nights. The hotel is also arranged to serve coach groups with others having to walk through the group function room/seating area to get to the buffet breakfast and back, also no trays are provided thus several trips are required. We also had to request items to replenished on all mornings, eg orange juice, yogurt, eggs etc. requests to the catering staff received no response only them retuning to the kitchen where they called "service" however nothing happened until a request was made to the breakfast concierge. Whilst the room and food are to a good standard, I would not expect the service issues in a hotel in this price range,

We stayed in the sister hotel but fancied the menu here more for dinner. A big mistake. We never received the drinks we ordered. We did get a starter that we didn’t order. We watched a waiter drop a plate over guests at the table beside us. The menu is terrible, I took a chance on porchetta, I was served a salty, greasy, slimy rancid piece of grey/green pork. I tried one bite and couldn’t stomach any more. When they eventually came to ask why I wasn’t eating they tried to tell me that’s how it should be, they also didn’t remove it from the bill until we challenged them on that, while acting like they did us a favour removing the drinks we never received. Service was exceptionally slow and the sides were also inedible. Do not eat here.
