Kolping

We stayed 2 nights at the kolping hotel. The hotel was very clean and cheap (30€/night with breakfast). The team was very nice and welcoming. Private parking is available and a typical restaurant is available all day below the hotel. I highly recommend this property +++.

Located about 10-15 minutes from the city centre and 15 minutes to the rail station. It was the latter that was my main reason as I needed to take the once a day train that leaves at 05:45 in the morning. For  the equivalent of €25 a night, I wasn't expecting much. However I definitely was expecting more than i got. The room was dreary - dimly lit, old furniture and a cheap bed with basic linen. Bathroom was again in a sorry state, the shower obviously never cleaned out and one of the sliding doors missing. Shower gel was a large supermarket purchased litre bottle rather than individual bottles or a dispenser. Towels were old and a bit frayed. Despite booking.com saying they took cards and Visa/MasterCard stickers on the door, they refused to take payment. They wanted payment in euro cash, I said no as I hadn't enough on my. So almost begrudgingly converted it into local currency.  So to sum up, really not a place I'd recommend.

When we arrived in the hotel we received the keys but they didn't even lead us to the room. They were too busy with talkin with each other. The room was very basic but is was OK. Wi-fi didn't function very well. The hotel is located a bit outside the center. Compering to our other experiences in Albania this stay was quite a shock. I'm sure there are a lot of better places to stay in Shkoder.
