A fervent defender of everything concerning Algeria, but this is just too much; a dilapidated hotel, worn-out carpet, bath towels that have seen better days and are torn, a completely frayed and dirty armchair that makes it very difficult to sit without fearing illness from catching nasty bugs, woodwork in a state of extreme decay; we therefore fled this horrible dormitory the next day to find ourselves in a real hotel of 2026 run by private owners; it is simply horrible and to be avoided; gentlemen, the hotel management, SHAME ON YOU!!!

A very poor welcome. The restaurant even made us leave just after we ordered, under the pretext that we needed to pay at the front desk!! We took the boat at 5 AM, no wake-up call 📞, not even a thank you. A taxi driver to take us for an Alger by night - 5000 dinars!!! A scam. Too bad, the address reference and the establishment do not deserve such staff.

Our stay was what we wanted: old-fashioned charm. The hotel has been updated without losing its historic atmosphere. Americans may find it a mix of historic and modern elements. Our room was quiet with a balcony that had a view of the sea. There are outdoor terraces, a garden with winding paths, and a giant pool (we had it mostly to ourselves!). This is a refreshing change from the impersonal Western chains that you can find in just about any major city. Breakfast buffet was pretty big by Algerian standards -- and the pastries and French bread were perfect.
