We ended up staying one night at Hotel Presidente after our airline cancelled our flight and compensated us with one free night. Although we arrived at 0400 with many other exhausted and frustrated travelers, the hotel did well to accommodate us and gave us a late check-out to give us time to rest. The staff was friendly and accommodating. The room was a bit small with outdated furniture and bathroom fixtures, but for the one night we needed, it served its purpose just fine. The room was quiet despite being along the main boulevard in the city. We didn't have an opportunity to try the restaurant, but the location is convenient to other cafes, convenience stores, and the Colon Theater and Obelisk. The hotel was perfect for what we needed, though I'm not sure if I would recommend for a long stay.

The worst experience. I have never been in other hotels where I have disappeared objects from the room, rude, ill-mannered and ill-treated staff. It's an expensive hotel because I was charged $155 a night. When they shouldn't even charge $20. The rooms are old, poorly kept and look like the pictures they publish. In the bathroom the mirror was broken not to mention that the bathroom is old and maintenance free. The electronic lock was not working and we were not given any solution, the answer was to insist until it opened. I ordered a pillow the day I arrived 48 hours passed and never showed one. The place where breakfast is improvised and wants are in charge are very poorly educated. They treat you like they're doing you a favor and they make fun of you when you talk to them. I'd never go back to that hotel. It's the worst of the worst.

Excellent in every respect; competent and affable bilingual staff in the lobby; a bath in the bathroom!; big rooms; comfortable beds; right on 9 de Julio; arranged Tango show; still a greal option in the city; walking distance to the Uruguay ferry
