L Hotel Palermo

Quaint hotel, lovely rooms. We enjoyed the balcony overlooking the lively street. Awesome location near great shops, restaurants, cafes and bars. Close enough to the action but away from the noise. There is some street noise, but earplugs and the hum of the a/c was sufficient to enable us to sleep really well. Super comfy beds and bedding. Light filled, welcoming environment and kind staff made for a great stay. Highly recommend and would visit again.

If you are seeking a safe, clean room in the middle of all the action and nightlife, then you have found it here. Basic, no frills accommodation does include a small breakfast (toast, croissants, cereal) each morning. Staff are very helpful and multilingual and their attention to service and detail was much appreciated. The building itself is old and it shows--a rainstorm created leaks in the roof that needed buckets on the stairs and landing (but not in the room itself)--but that is to be expected I suppose for older structures. Also, the hot water in the shower kept turning off (not turning cold, but turning off completely!) every few minutes so I'd have to stop and wait a few minutes for it to decide to turn itself back on again. The surrounding area is perfect for nightlife but awful for sleeping due to the noise (I got only a few hours of sleep each night) so it's a tradeoff. It is very safe to walk around and the front door is locked. Other guests were quiet and respectful. They do offer complimentary late checkout and/or luggage storage if needed, and can call a taxi on your behalf (that you pay for) to take you to the airport. The subway is just 15 minutes away by foot, about seven blocks, very convenient.

Hotel Republica Palermo is brilliant - you get everything you ask for. - Location: fantastic. Palermo Soho is the best area to stay and this hotel is right in the heart of it. Literally a two minute walk to dozens of great bars and restaurants. Great fun and it was hard to leave the area. - Staff: fantastic. Everyone is incredibly friendly and helpful. They went out of their way to help with all manner of quirky requests I made and they're genuinely kind and care about your stay. Brilliant people. - Hotel: very safe, small hotel. Rooms are as expected - reasonably small and no frills but with everything you want - clean, great wifi, safes. Only thing I'd say - not the hotel's fault - is Palermo Soho is a party town from about 2am. Ask for an internal facing room if you don't like the noise. Personally I enjoyed my external facing room. It's fun to hear what's going on in the city!
