An amazing finale to our trip—one we’ll genuinely remember for a long time. The cabin we booked was absolutely perfect for our family of four, and we felt so well taken care of from the moment we arrived. Every little detail showed how much thought and care the team puts into what they do, and we truly appreciated it.
Waking up to breakfast served in our unit was such a special touch—easily one of our favorite moments each day. Coming back to a room that was always cleaned and beautifully reset made everything feel effortless and relaxing. And the help with arranging taxis whenever we headed downtown was something we were so grateful for—it made our stay that much smoother.
Thank you for such warm, attentive, and genuine hospitality. The service was impeccable, and without a doubt, one of the best experiences we’ve had in a very long time.

I have a tough time writing this review because some parts of the hotel I would rate much better than other parts of our stay. Los Ponchos is a lovely tiny boutique hotel located a ways outside of El Calafate so you will need a car to get back and forth or be prepared for a 25 minute walk. We thought the location was nice and we thought the hotel looked very quaint. They did a nice job with decorations to tie it to the region which we enjoyed.
The rooms were only okay with very short ceilings and a tiny shower and you could also hear a lot because the walls are pretty thin and the hallway is right outside of your room and there is a window from the hallway to your room and while closed it allows sounds to travel. We also had an issue with the staff not respecting our do not disturb signs and they use old fashioned keys so when you give them the key they go in even if you leave the sign on. They kept moving our stuff around - we had a few items hanging that they put in the back of the closet and they kept moving other stuff around. It was almost as if they went through all of our belongings every night when we were out and decided where they should be. I think they were unhappy because they had patagonia books open to certain pages and we closed them and set them aside so they moved our stuff and reopened them. It felt like they are checking to make sure that you have followed their rules (no luggage on the shelves, etc.).
The nightly rate was expensive and it is billed before you arrive from an address in the united states so I think it might be owned by someone in the US? For the cost, over $500 a night the made to order breakfast wasn't enough of a value add for the fact that the rooms were not that great. I liked the decorations and quaintness of the hotel but I would not go back probably due to the cost for the size/issues with the room. It also isn't that convenient to town.

Most beautiful boutique bed and breakfast feeling hotel. The view of the lake is stunning. The service friendly staff add to the experience. The breakfast is made to order not a buffet. The silverware and glasses are elegant. It’s a 25 minute flat walk around the lake into town
