Marcopolo Inn Calafate

PROS: - Use of the kitchen was a convenient bonus to make our meals - Fairly priced rate for room - Room was clean, large, and comfortable enough for our 3 night stay CONS: - Was a little far from tourist areas (15-20 minute walk) - Staff was "hit or miss"

The social area is very big, but the kithcen is quite small and can get crowded. The views are great and dorm was comfy and warm, but one bathroom for 8 people can be annoying sometimes. Breakfast was OK, pretty standard. But you couldn't go in the kitchen during these hours. WiFi worked very well! Overall, this place could be amazing with a bit more TLC, such a big space to do lots with.

We stayed here for 2 nights on return from El Chalten and having already stayed in El Calafate for 4 nights on our first visit we weren’t very fussed on where to stay the second time round. However I would not recommend this “Hostel” for backpackers or travelers looking to socialize, the atmosphere here is similar to a conference hall. Breakfast is average at best (coffee, tea, sweet cereal, toast and canned fruit). On the plus side, they do have a pool table and the showers are fine. If you’re new to town stay down the street at any of the hostels close by and you’ll have a better experience.
