Abode - The Apartment Hotel

Conveniently located. We wanted to visit Mulligans Flat and it was a 5-10 min car ride away. Fahima greeted us with a warm welcome. Accommodation whilst simple was clean, close to the township of Gungahlin and represented good value. We stayed for only one night and were greeted with the same lovely hospitality on checking out. Even though it was next to the main road, there was very little noise. We would stay there again if we were to come to Gungahlin.

I was in Canberra for a celebration with former work colleagues and spent two nights in this shambles of a hotel. Whilst it's in a great location with shops and restaurants nearby that's where anything good stops. The hotel is in a very noisy location, my balcony overlooked the nearby McDonald's Carpark and Drive-thru. At night the noise was unbearable. On the first night, there was yelling in the carpark and when I looked from my balcony there were people from three cars who were involved in an argument. Then there was the noise from the drive-thru constantly disrupting my sleep. The noise of the loud speaker wafted through the night air repeating customers' orders and asking, "do you want fries with that" and the like. I was advised the hotel could do nothing about it - well yes you could, sound-proof glass. The second night, I needed an early night as I was checking out by 6:30am for my early morning flight back to Sydney. I was in bed at 10pm, but kept awake by a woman in the next room who was out on her balcony chatting with a friend or two for ages on more than one call. I politely asked her if she would mind making her calls inside so I didn't have to hear them. Her response, "I can't - my kids are sleeping" - I thought "LUCKY THEM"! She ceased her phone calls at 11:40pm. Seriously, this hotel needs to invest in soundproofing. It needs to service rooms daily. It did not, and I ran out of coffee and milk. Don't waste your money on this place, it's not what it's cracked up to be.

Super fast check in and check out. Room was spacious & very clean. Kitchenette was useful for a cuppa or self catered breadfast. Walkable distance to town for eateries & shopping.
