We stayed here almost three years ago and loved it. However, time hasnt been kind to the furnishings that are worn down and need to be replaced. It has had a battering during those years by the look of it. The couch is terribly uncomfortable and completely sagged in, a second hand one from an op shop would be better. The pictures are faded and sad. The clock had stopped when we were there in 2023, and it still isn't working. The cane mat in the loungeroom has a nasty massive stain on it. The cushions are thin and very worn. The outdoor furniture is so uncomfortable and looks like it was in a school or a playground. it's just hard metal. Also, there is a lot of random stuff in the cupboards like people have left things and haven't thrown them away, which is odd It's not a chrap place to stay, and having been before, we are still happy about the size of the apartment and location. However, there is more to life than size. Quality really does matter.

Unfortunately, our stay in Apartment 17 fell well short of expectations, particularly given the cost of almost $800 per night. The main bedroom window did not close properly and was positioned directly next to the taco restaurant’s exhaust. As a result, the room constantly smelt like tacos, and the exhaust fan noise was extremely loud until around 10pm, making sleep very difficult. The smell carried through the entire apartment and was unbearable. Our clothes that were in this room will need to be washed as they all smell like taco!! We were genuinely upset to leave Byron early, as we love it there, but the conditions made it impossible to stay comfortably. The couch was filthy, with dirty cushions that I wouldn’t even let my children sit on. Behind the main bedroom bedhead was thick with dust, looking as though it hadn’t been cleaned for months. On a positive note, the bathroom and kitchen were clean and appeared new. The pool is located inside the taco restaurant area, which made it neither relaxing nor usable. The manager was understanding and refunded us one night, as we chose to leave a day early, which we appreciated. Byron itself is vibrant and fun with great beach weather, and the apartment is well located. However, for the price, this accommodation was nowhere near good enough. Also worth noting there are no elevators, which may be an issue for some guests.
