The guesthouse is in a great location and the rooms are spacious, beds comfy and linen soft and clean. However, the rest of the place needs a jolly good clean. When we arrived it was clear that the bed linen and towels were fresh but the bathrooms had not been cleaned properly for a while. The bins had not been emptied, the taps and plug had a layer of grime around them, two plastic lids from the tops of disposable razors were left in the shower and on the cabinet and you could write your name in the dust on the top of the toilet. The soap scum in the shower soap disc could easily be cleaned. The kitchenette was equally dirty. The utensils were so grimy that they were stuck to the bottom of the drawers, the placemats on the table had leftover breakfast welded to them, the bottle of juice in the fridge was open, not sure how long for, along with grimy top sauce bottles, jam and butter. Took one look and shut the fridge as it smelled horrid too. Microwave also needed a good clean and both tea and sugar for guests were months out of date. The dust build up behind the TV's, doorways and on the air con units were really not nice. The owner was lovely and did try and clean up the kitchen when we gave feedback but it had really put us off so we simply ate out and used our own bowls and cutlery for our morning cereal rather than use anything available. It was a real shame as a good clean would make the place lovely. In a 2 week holiday we stayed at 5 places and so have a lot to compare to. Not what you expect for $250 a night.

We are so happy to have found this cute and quite little bed and breakfast and it is our go to place whenever we need to get out of the city for a weekend. Quick and easy to book (text directly to John). The place is very clean, has a separate entrance to the main bit of the house, has shampoo etc, John is a lovely bloke and always there if you need anything. Bed is extremely comfy and the bedding and big towels are beautiful! Has a central shared living space with a small kitchenette (incl fridge) (no stove) which we found handy, table and sofa. You can have breakfast outside, where there is also a BBQ and surf shower. Breakfast is always delightful (continental). We have compared prices with a lot of other places in Byron and for $150 a room per night this place is very good value for Byron standards. About a 10 mins walk fro Clarkes beach and 15 min walk from the centre of town (for us this wasn't a problem at all). Having been here with my partner on a number of occasions, I feel that Malemajulius's review below is inaccurate. For Byron prices this is not overpriced at all and it has always been very clean whenever we go. Perhaps he/she was having a bad day...
