As the date of our holiday approached we received numerous emails from Booking.com confirming that our holiday was imminent. Two hours prior to our arrival we rang Julian Apartments (JA) to advise our arrival time. We were told that our booking had been cancelled due to an administrative error and Booking.Com had not been advised. We were offered 1 night's accommodation at JA which we accepted and stayed there the first night of our holiday. (Photos attached of the apartment in JA's where we stayed for ONE night.) The next morning we were told "the owners were going to be staying in the apartment allocated to us and couldn't be moved". We were offered a room in a guest house on the western side of Byron Bay as our replacement accommodation. We suggested the owners might like the room in the guest house rather than us and were told that was not going to happen! We expressed to the receptionist how very disappointed we were in ending up in a small room in a Guest House not near the beach rather than the apartment we had booked nearly 10 months earlier. My Credit Card was charged the SAME amount for the bedroom in a guest house as Julian Apartments!

The location wasn’t too bad walking into town. The apartment was roomy and well equipped. However the reception staff were very unaccommodating. We had an afternoon flight and asked to leave our luggage at reception for a couple of hours when he took the key out of my hand and said no sorry there won’t be anyone at reception all day. Which is hard to believe when you have people checking in in the afternoon.

Absolutely love Byron but this place is completely disgraceful and against the ACCC requirements. Construction site next door that has just commenced and will be going for at least 12 months. Bad reviews will only be filtering through as warning. Unable to hear ourselves talk through the banging and circular saw. Managers when queried were aware that no one would stay if the true circumstances were made apparent to the customers. Their alternative was to leave at 6:45am and return at 5:00pm when builders had finished for the day. Obviously doesn't know the definition of holiday..... I have included a photograph as a picture tells a thousands words for any prospective customer. Will ensure the word gets out before anyone else wastes their money. Plenty of other accommodation to choose from. You have been warned.
