The location was lovely set amongst rainforest and close to Old Settlement Beach.
The service was abut lacking. It was very hard to get the attention of staff and some gave the impression that were not very happy to be there.
Calling it a Retreat was doubtful. The rooms were lovely and clean. Breakfast was provided in the frigid the unit but it was very basic indeed. When we ate an apple out of the frig, thinking it formed part of the breakfast, we were charged mini bar rates for it. We did purchase a couple of pre-made meals from the office. They were okay. We were charged for many items from the minibar which we did not consumed. When we pointed this out, they were grudgingly taken off out bill.
Lord Howe Island is a wonderful place but if I go again, I would choose a friendlier place to stay..
