I’m writing to express my deep disappointment with Northside Apartments Port Macquarie, a place I’ve stayed at multiple times in the past and previously considered reliable. That trust has now been completely broken. I had a fully paid booking during a weekend when Port Macquarie was affected by serious flooding. Roads were closed and travel was dangerous, so I had no choice but to cancel my trip for safety reasons. When I contacted Northside Apartments at the time, I was reassured that my booking would be credited for a future stay given the natural disaster. Fast forward one month — I finally followed up, only to be told that ownership has changed and that I was apparently marked as a “no-show”, with no credit, refund, or accountability for the situation. There was no communication, no attempt to honour what was promised, and no recognition of the fact that this was not a casual cancellation but a natural disaster-related emergency. Instead, I was written off and brushed aside, as if my loyalty and history as a returning guest meant absolutely nothing. To treat a repeat customer this way is beyond disappointing — it’s shady, unethical, and deeply unprofessional. You don’t promise a credit in the middle of a flood, disappear for a month, then use a convenient “change of ownership” excuse to avoid honouring it. Northside Apartments has made it clear they have no interest in doing what’s right — only in keeping money they haven’t earned. You’ve lost a loyal customer, and I will absolutely be letting others know about this experience.

It’s a bit odd…feels like a tired 1980’s hotel in Kazakhstan. We were given room 205 - broken door in second bedroom. It won’t open. It is summer! The beds weren’t made & dirty linen was piled up in the hallway. So, they gave us 207. Cleaners had washed a load of cleaning cloths and rags in the Room washing machine! They were still in the machine! The fans in the bedrooms don’t work unless the light is on..so on a hot summer night, in 205 you can’t open the door and in 207, you have to sleep with the light on if you want to use the ceiling fans. Bizarre! Staff are friendly. Good location and we got a good price. We’d visit Kazakhstan again but take cleaning fluids for the washing machine before you use it!!

We stayed in room 205. Large courtyard but a view direct over main traffic area and Port Pacific Resort looking in. I asked for room with a view and paid $1400 four nights. Was told they were completely booked out. I never saw a soul at the pool nor near lifts so who knows. The 2nd bedroom sliding door did not open so fresh air was not obtained. I have many health issues and like being able to have fresh air circulating. A gentleman from reception came up to the room and after a few unwelcome profanities (bit unprofessional?) decided yes the door wouldnt open and to us it needs a new lock, which I hope they attend to. We have stayed before here. It is a good location, secure and basic clean. We had to wipe the interior grills on screen door, they were covered in mould or dirt. The rest of the apartment was clean, although the cupboard where toaster was had breadcrumbs in it. A simple wipe out from cleaner? The pool is heated and has very hard plastic sun lounges. If you are thinking of staying here make sure you request a room with a view as room 205 was not great. Would I stay again? No, it is too expensive for what we got.
