Quality Resort Sails

We stayed at Sails Poet Macquarie 10 days ago & again yesterday on our way back to Brisbane. The service was excellent; the rooms spacious & well maintained & the restaurants & bars high quality. Jacob at reception was present on both occasions & provided excellent personal service to make our stay very enjoyable. Jacob is a great ambassador to Dails at Piet Macquarie

Quick overnight stay on an east coast road trip. Room nice and warm- lovely pool area and a comfy bed. Could hear noise from the room upstairs- but overall a good stay. Thanks.

I’m sitting here in the hotel room at 7pm at night, cold because (a) the showers are tepid at best right now and (b) the room heating doesn’t heat the room properly. I have it set to 30 and it’s churning out coolish air - not warm, not hot. The hotel tells me that they have issues with the hot water and have offered to “reset it” for [me]. They also advise because the heating and cooling is on a centralised system it struggles to deal with individual rooms - this is despite the only air outlet into the room being the split system on the wall which has not been able to noticeably cool or heat the room. The beds are also awful and the first night I felt like I was sleeping on a hill as the mattress had collapsed in a corner. The staff the next day advised that they had many complaints and were aware of the mattress issues, and so swapped it for another used mattress which was marginally better, but really gave a terrible nights sleep. We are in interconnecting rooms with a total of 6 single beds (some joined to be kings), and also here with friends with 4 mattresses in their room and every single one of those 10 mattresses are terrible - saggy, collapsed and very wobbly. No support at all. We are all struggling to sleep because of the mattresses. I simply cannot agree that a hotel that cannot give a good sleep with a reasonable mattress, a reliable hot shower or warmed/ cooled room can be 4.5 star. I could not stay here again with these issues. On a positive note, the pool is very warm for kids and the spa very very warm so it’s great for swimming and for kids and adults alike. This is a big positive. Technically I could go warm up in the pool but would be left smelling of chlorine all night in my saggy, wobbly, unsupportive bed. The breakfast buffet is quite reasonable and the kids loved it but there must be something going on with their dishwasher or dishwashing system as none of the dishes are cleaned properly. They all have food and other residue on them, as if they weren’t rinsed before / after being washed. It’s not pleasant. On a bad note we booked a few weeks in advance by telephone with the hotel and ended up paying a rate much higher than our friends (who booked online the same day or prior day). The day before we were leaving the hotel called us and told us there was a wedding reception to be held a few meters away from our rooms with music and dancing in the evening. It would have been nice to know when we booked. This is just thoughtless. If the hotel bought new good quality mattresses, fixed the heating and hot water, the dirty dishes ant breakfast and also the communication re functions when booking I would give it 5 stars.
