Ramada Resort Shoal Bay

My partner and I recently stayed at Ramada W205 and would like to express our concerns regarding the unit. We have stayed previously at Ramada but noticed a significant decline in standards on this stay. On arrival at 3.30pm (yes we were early and willing to wait for room, not a problem) however the room was not ready until 5.20pm. We were unpacking and parking vehicle in the cold and dark. On arrival in our room, the floor was still quite wet from cleaning with potential to slip. On opening the dishwasher discovered, what looked like, pet hair in it. ?? The cooktop needed cleaning. On attempting to use the safe, discovered it didn’t work. The toilet was constantly leaking into the bowl and refilling every 8-10 minutes. We mentioned all these issues to staff at reception the following day ( Saturday). In regards to the safe specifically mentioned that it was important to us to have a working safe. In response to the safe, we were apologised to and told that they were on back order. Not given a resolution. We requested a reclean of the unit. A lovely cleaner attended Saturday night ( around 5.30-6pm) This particular cleaner seemed very dedicated, and disappointed by the state of the floor. We hadn’t used the dishwasher and showed her the hair. She said it looked like dog hair and suggested the previous guest might have had an assistance dog, but would clean it up. To the cooktop then and she explained the only equipment provided to perform their cleaning duties were extremely limited. Just an all purpose spray bottle and a flat mop. No bucket. No cooktop cleaner. !! Other issues, although insignificant to some, but lends to the overall experience of stay … the floor lamp was broken, the dining table had one leg propped up by a piece of cardboard and the curtain rods center bracket was bent. The oven mitt in the draw was dirty (white mold??) The ceiling in the unit, had moisture damage. The common area/hallway ceiling has a LOT of moisture damage and one panel(that we noticed) had black MOLD! On using the outdoor BBQ we discovered there was no paper towel to clean up after use so the previous user/s had left it uncleaned. We were prepared however, with our own BBQ mat to use. Our time at Shoal Bay was fabulous and we had exceptional weather but our week was marred by the standards at Ramada I have included several photos for your perusal. As a timeshare owner, and taking into consideration, the maintenance fees charged, I would expect better of my managers. I do not own at Ramada. I am an RCI member.

We booked a one night stay through the country club. Ramada only manage some of the rooms owned by the club so they couldn’t find the booking. Then they sent us to our waterfront view room which looked nice in the pics but ours didn’t have the balcony in the pics it had sliding glass doors with a concrete wall half way up them (a Juliet balcony apparently!!!) the waterfront view above the wall was amazing I’m just glad it was only one night. The lounge area was outdated and uncomfortable the bathroom had a ‘kill your self’ shower bath . Needs an upgrade . The bed was comfortable.

If you are lucky enough to get a room/apartment with a view then you are doing Ok, whilst the units are good, the lounge(sofa bed) is very uncomfortable. No lounges on the balconies, to sit and read a book, that’s if you have a balcony. The restaurants nearby are very good, nice walks along the waterfront, is it worth paying full price to stay there, not for me I want a bit more for $3k+ a week other than just somewhere to sleep, but we had a timeshare exchange so ok. For that much go on a cruise.
