Sydney Harbour Bed And Breakfast

I have stayed at Sydney Harbour B&B several times and it never disappoints, the rooms are lovely and comfortable, and the B&B is full of history, so cosy and quaint. I am local from Manly and love to come across the Harbour and stay here.. and always will.

I booked on terms that explicitly stated that cancellation was free of charge. Payment was taken after booking, which was expected. I then had to cancel the booking due to Covid-19 preventing me from travelling to Australia. I cancelled using the booking platform I used to make the booking. I received no refund. The hotel did not answer the phone or reply to my subsequent emails and messages sent using through the booking platform. Eventually, the booking platform reached out to the B&B but got no reply. I have since been refunded by the booking platform (who clearly value good customer service and honouring agreements stated on their own platform and, I assume, will invoice the B&B themselves in due course) but it’s disgraceful for an establishment to put their fingers in their ears and refuse to acknowledge or reply to emails from customers. I would have been sympathetic to a response saying they couldn’t honour a refund due to the pandemic, but in the absence of any communication at all I am glad I pursued and got my refund. If you book here, I could advise you do so only on the condition that payment is made upon arrival. I really felt like my money was pocketed and made off with.

I was looking forward to staying here as it is a picturesque B&B. We rented a cottage with a courtyard down a laneway. High expectations. Location is marvellous but the accomodation was very disappointing. Courtyard overgrown and unusable. Accomodation dusty and just not up to par cleanliness wise. And there was just a myriad of small missed details, no tea towel, no milk, only 2 sachets of coffee, wifi not working, uncomfortable bed and a few other things, which when put together made for a very disappointing stay. I know these are covid times and understand the breakfast being cancelled but cleanliness and useability of ammenties is surely not an unreasonable expectation. And sadly it would not have taken much effort to do the right thing for us as guests.
