Vibe Sydney

Great hotel in excellent location for transport, theatres, restaurants etc. Room spacious, well-appointed and clean. I stay here regularly and on this last occasion was accommodated on the First Floor - which, as it turns out, is not secure. To access guest room floors, guests must scan their electronic room key on a reader in the lift - except if staying on the First Floor which is accessible without scanning a room key. (I had thought I was dreaming this scenario, but staff at checkout this morning confirmed that it is indeed so.) When exiting the lifts on the First Floor, one can see signage indicating conference and meeting rooms are to the left. These are accessible by double doors which are secured by card readers. Guest bedrooms are to the right and are, once again, accessed by double doors. These doors are NOT, however, secured by card readers which means that, theoretically, anyone can access the guest bedroom area which is, I believe, a security/safety issue. As previously mentioned, I regularly stay at this hotel and will in future request that I NOT be accommodated on the First Floor. I also regularly travel to the UK and stay at Premier Inns - a budget chain a level or two below the Vibe standard. I have never yet encountered a Premier inn where access to floors containing guest bedrooms has been open to all comers - scanners/card readers are deployed throughout the hotel to ensure guest security and peace of mind. If a budget chain of hotels several tiers below the Vibe standard can provide security on all guest room floors why can’t Vibe?

Also was charged more for parking through vibe then what it would have cost me paying directly to the car park facility that was recommended

My wife and I stayed here for 3 nights at the start of our South Coast explorer trip from Sydney to Adelaide for my wife's 70th birthday treat. We were early for our reserved room book in and were very tired and in need of a freshen up after almost 30 hours in the air from London Heathrow to Los Angeles International, to Sydney and then the 30 minutes taxi drive to The Vibe. The lovely receptionist asked if we would mind a king sized room as our pre ordered twin was not currently available. Of course we gratefully accepted and the room was fantastic, large, comfy bed, plenty of sockets and USB ports, superbly clean everywhere, awesome bathroom, wonderful large tv with a lovely welcome message to boot! Great start. Maid/cleaning service was superb every day and even the wonderful coffee pods were replenished too (much to my approval) and this was especially good as you don't always get that in a lot of hotels. The meals we had each evening were delicious and although the menu wasn't particularly extensive, what was there was, was well cooked, nicely presented and of a very good quality, so much so that we ate there every night, first just my wife and I then the next night with my wife's niece and boyfriend who live in Sydney and the following night with my 2 great nieces who also live in Sydney. We all enjoyed great food and surroundings in The Vibe during our stay and the delicious food too. By far the greatest asset of the Vibe in Goulburn Street, was the wonderful Grace, a young lady from the North of Ireland who couldn't have made us feel any more at ease and 'at home'. Her welcome, her humour, her customer service, superb customer rapport and her wonderful smile made every evening and our time there exceptional. Our family who also met Grace all agreed that she was/is indeed something special. I even managed top get a 'proper pint' here as opposed to a schooner which was most welcome for me and I had to try several in case I couldn't get another whilst I was travelling!!! Thank you The Vibe, thank you Australia but most of all thank you Grace for your welcome, your wonderful personality and cheerful service. Grace is a huge asset to The Vibe and indeed any establishment that she might 'grace' with her presence at any time, anywhere.
