Garden City Motor Inn

Upon arrival at 1pm the reception area was locked and neither phone number available was answered. Eventually checked in to be overwhelmed for the first 24 hours by the toxic smell of paving paint from the outside of the rooms having the walkways painted. The wifi was completely offline and after enquiring were told that it was broken. We weren't advised of any if this upon check in. While the room was adequate the noise at night is horrendous. People yelling, talking and loud televisions from other rooms. There was also people spitting loudly right outside the room. Overall I would suggest staying anywhere else. It was unpleasant and not worth the money.

Stayed here for 2 nights while on a road trip through the Riverina region. I had made the booking, for a superior queen room, 2 weeks in advance via the motel website. Payment on arrival and free cancellation up to 1 day before was a plus. On arrival we were made welcome and given the key to room 14, which was on the ground floor straight ahead of the drive way. The room was quite spacious with a queen and single bed. It also had a sofa, a small table, 3 chairs and a desk, luggage rack, microwave and crockery /cutlery for 3 and the usual electrical appliances. The only thing missing was a plug for the bathroom basin so we could wash up our dishes. We mentioned this to reception and they immediately brought one over. Everything was very clean and the bed was comfortable. In planning our road trip, I had looked at various accommodation sites in Wagga Wagga and found this to be in a good location and good value with everything we needed for our self-catering holiday. It was down the river end of the town centre with a short walk to the Wiradjuri Walking Track along the Murrumbidgee River and a 15-20 minute walk to the shops in the opposite direction. All very flat, so walking made it easy to get to shops, pubs, restaurants and Wagga Beach. Recommend Room 14 for a family of 2 or 3 if visiting Wagga for a few days.

We were touring around New South Wales and arrived in Wagga Wagga on a Wednesday to find a lot of accommodation booked out so when we found the Garden City Motor Inn had a vacancy we were keen to accept it. We paid $150.00 per night for 3 nights which we considered to be a bit dear for the accommodation standard. The room was dated but reasonably large with a table and chairs, a sofa and a large bed as well as the usual appliances. Upon settling in we found that the front window which faced the street could not be locked and could be easily opened from the outside. I considered this a safety and security issue for us and our belongings so I reported the matter to the lady who had checked us in. Simply she could not have been more disinterested in what I was telling her about the unlocked window and she even made the statement that there was no crime in Wagga Wagga. However, I thought that after my complaint and simple suggestion how it could be addressed she would at least inspect the window and take some measurements to put a rod in the window track to satisfy my concerns. In addition after the first night I found that the bed was very soft and made my back ache during the day. I also noted that the toilet cistern and seat was in urgent need of replacement due to its terrible aged and worn state. We also found that the tee towels supplied were the size of handkerchiefs and lacked the ability to properly absorb water. In addition we had trouble with the shower going suddenly cold and then suddenly hot again. On the last morning during my shower after it went very cold I had to jump aside as it suddenly became scolding hot. Upon returning the key to the reception lady I advised her of the shower problem and again she showed no real interest and I took the opportunity to advise her of my disappointment in her lack of action to my complaint regarding the unlocked window. Once again she showed that she couldn't care less about what I was saying and offered no apology or solution. We will never return to this motel.
