BIG4 Adventure Whitsunday Resort

We have only just been for 4 days our trip isn’t over yet and it’s been absolutely amazing. We have had the best time so far for my 30th. The room we have is is a great spot to watch the kids on the jumping pillows, we only need to walk around the corner to the water slides, don’t even get my kids talking about the slides, they have only been on it once this trip so far and they didn’t stop talking about them. The room is HUGE, it fits 8 ppl (5 adults and 3 children. We gave my parents the big room with their own bathroom and the rest of us shared. It’s been an amazing trip so far. We are already planing another trip for my dad’s 60th in January. The rooms have their own laundry so you can wash and dry your clothes which has been amazing. We cooked our own bbq burger last night out on the deck having a few drinks and we’re listening to ABBA it was a beautiful night. Will post again when our trip is over.

We booked BIG4 Whitsundays expecting a relaxing family holiday, but unfortunately this was one of the most disappointing caravan park experiences we've had. Our original site was completely isolated from the rest of the park, a considerable distance from the amenities, and overlooked the park's maintenance yard and a vacant block. I cannot understand why these sites are allocated to families in the first place. Although staff eventually relocated us after we raised our concerns, this should never have been necessary. The park is tired and in desperate need of upgrading. The amenities are run down, not all laundry machines accept tap-and-go payments, and the single raised dump point is inconvenient and poorly designed for a park of this size. I actually had to buy a laundry trolley just to get our washing to the nearest amenities block. The biggest disappointment was arriving to discover that the playground—a major reason we chose this park for our young child—was removed from our second day to make way for redevelopment. There was absolutely no notification before our stay that this key facility would be unavailable. One of the waterslides was also out of service. To make matters worse, we spent our holiday in the middle of a construction site. From around 7:00 am every morning, trucks, bulldozers and heavy machinery were operating throughout the park. The constant noise made it impossible to relax, and at one point staff knocked on our caravan without notice asking us to move our car from our allocated site so construction vehicles could access the area. Paying guests should not be inconvenienced because of redevelopment works. When we raised our concerns, management's solution was to offer compensation if we chose to leave the park early. This completely missed the point. We didn't want to abandon our holiday—we wanted the holiday we had paid for. Leaving was never a realistic option, as we had already booked and paid for tours and sightseeing throughout the Whitsundays and would have been financially disadvantaged by having to find alternative accommodation at short notice. A more appropriate approach would have been transparency before arrival or meaningful efforts to minimise the impact on guests. There is also a serious lack of lighting throughout the park, making it feel unsafe to walk around after dark. Finally, the midge problem was the worst we've experienced anywhere. While we understand insects are part of the Whitsundays, the extensive earthworks appeared to make the issue even worse, and we were constantly being bitten despite using insect repellent. The staff we dealt with were polite; however, courtesy alone does not make up for poor communication, unavailable facilities, ongoing construction, and a holiday that fell well below expectations. Guests should be clearly informed before booking if major redevelopment is underway, key family facilities are being removed, heavy machinery will be operating from early each morning, and the overall guest experience will be significantly impacted. Had we known the true extent of the disruption, we would have booked elsewhere. Unfortunately, this was not the family holiday we paid for.

Great family park with unbelievable facilities for kids. Sadly, we were placed on a site too small and our van was pushed up against the garden. Staff when taking bookings need to ensure allocated sites suit van dimensions especially when paying at a discounted rate of $72 per night.
