Headland Gardens

My friend and I stayed in Apartment #4 which was in desperate need of some repairs and modernisation. It was so disappointing to walk through the door of the apartment realising it looks nothing like the photos on the website. The decor is old and knocked about, with nasty stains by the front door and dirty/marked ceiling fans. Not all the wall lights worked - the ones in the lounge and main bedroom didn't work - and the fluoro light in the kitchen flickered. Rust was on the bottom of the laundry tub and along the shower curtain rail (even though there was no shower curtain in place). The shutters in both bedrooms were broken in places, and the apartment was very grimy in general. Upon check-in we were told the pump for the heated swimming pool was broken so we couldn't utilise that. Also, there are no lifts so I consider these apartments inaccessible for wheelchair users. On the positive side, the beds were clean (mattresses on the firmer side), and there was plenty of wardrobe space and clothes hangers. The water was hot and the kitchen had more utensils, cutlery and crockery than most places I've previously stayed. Noise levels around the complex were good, but I put that down to staying during the low season. We paid just under $250 per night with a 2 night minimum stay in July (wintertime) which in our opinion, considering the state of the apartment, was not good value at all. If the apartment had been as lovely as the ones in the website photos we would have been happier with the price. I hope Apartment #4 gets some TLC sooner rather than later.

We decided to venture to Alexandra Headlands for a few nights away. There was not much availability due to the school holidays. Headland Gardens had one apartment left. The room has been recently refurbished and very clean. It has all the facilities you would expect. Craig the resident manager was excellent to deal with and looked after us from the moment we arrived. The pool area is awesome to relax around and catch some rays. I highly recommended Headland gardens. Outstanding central location and great facilities. We can't wait to return.

Our family have had Christmas here every year since 2015 (plus an Easter), when I finish my review I will be booking again for this year..what can I say, we love it here, it has become our family traditional holiday! The apartments are spacious, clean, fully functional, and comfortable. The grounds are always well looked after, the manager Craig, is lovely. Despite being a one-man band, if you need anything it is never to much trouble for him. Lets not forget the pool, tennis court, BBQ area spa, sauna and the biggest hit with the kids, a games room! The location is perfect, a street over from the beach, plenty of options for dining and shopping all within walking distance or a few minutes drive away. Great playgrounds with BBQ facilities, a scooter/skateboard park, all the tourist attractions are within a 20min drive... what more can you ask for! Prior to stumbling across Headland Gardens we had stayed of a couple of other places nearby, and we always found something we didn't like, nothing major but enough for us to look elsewhere for our next stay. Here we feel comfortable, welcomed and at home.. my kids (8 and nearly 5yrs) call it our holiday home!
