I have stayed at this Mercure and in the connected Pullman before for one night each. I am also a loyal Accor member. I booked this visit for two nights…it started off bad and only got worse. The parking lot that is next to the hotel was booked out for the entire weekend, which meant you had to park in the car park across the road (the only real issue is that you have to pay each time you leave). So get there and the entire driveway to drop your belongings off and check in was full (from large vehicles), park in the loading zone - and get questioned by the staff - as we were just checking in and dropping luggage to room before heading out again (not willing to pay to exit a car park for less than 15 minutes). As usual the check in process was lengthy due to lines (which is what I have experienced before so was prepared for this). Then come back to the room to have a shower and get settled - the room smelled terrible and musty. My partner’s allergies were terrible. The bathroom was tiny with the toilet basically on top of the shower. The sliding shower door was broken. There wasn’t proper ventilation in the bathroom so when we showered the condensation left every surface, item and toilet paper drenched. Then because there wasn’t proper ventilation in the room, it meant the room turned into a hot steam room. The bed was so incredibly uncomfortable that my neck and back were hurting. The room was in desperate need of some TLC - marks, grime, cracked tiles. Staying at the ibis styles would be better than Mercure. I seriously question whether Mercure would be happy to have this hotel as part of their brand. The only positives was the room had foxtel and goldfinch restaurant. When I checked out, I provided some feedback, to which they asked if we phoned them to let them know - we didn’t get back to the room until 12.30am the first night and left at 2pm the following day, coming back late again the second night. They would have been unable to provide the required maintenance and neither was interested in moving rooms on the first night. These repairs should have been well known to the company and fixed before booking the room out further. Will not stay here again.

The good, the staff are amazing. They are super helpful, appear interested in guests and remember you. While breakfast buffet is good, and was included in our rate the restaurant is not big enough for the volume of customers. At times while we were there large numbers of people were waiting for tables. The breakfast turnover is also quick and there are not enough staff to keep it stocked. The staff are great and I felt so sorry for them.
The hotel itself self is old, sad and forgotten. The rooms really need an upgrade, the bathrooms are really grotty! You can hear water running in the room next door! It just feels like a sad hotel. There’s not a bin in the room and the one in the bathroom has no lid or liner bag which is just not nice.
We wouldn’t choose to stay again. The locations very good but that’s it. There are way nicer hotels locally so spend the extra $100.00

Started here for two nights and loved it. Great location, good breakfast, very friendly lady at the breakfast check in. Would definitely stay again if returning to Brisbane.
