Stayed with a friend when we visited Cairns recently. We had a Resort Room which is the most basic and therefore cheapest of their rooms. The mattress was a little past its best but otherwise room excellent for what we wanted - a base from which to take trips. Grounds are fantastic, especially if like me you're from outside Australia and not used to the tropical plants. They are beautifully maintained with groundsmen out every morning looking after them. When not out on a day trip I happily wandered around the large grounds enjoying the foliage, the birds it brought in and chatting to other guests. Onside launderette perhaps a little expensive at $6 per wash then another $6 to tumble dry but very convenient and well maintained. Best of all the staff were helpful. Desk is manned 24 hours a day by helpful knowledgeable staff. As the accommodation is a little way out of town we had to book a taxi several times to go to marina. Staff did that for us and it always turned up on time. A lot of other day trips such as to rainforest include the Colonial Club on their pick up route. If I ever get to go back to Cairns I'd happily stay here again.

Pro Kid friendly with swimming pools and playgrounds Ac works well Friendly service Neutral Their is car park but not car park allocated to your room, it can be hard to find a place It’s not located near anything 2 restaurants located on site Less than 10 minutes drive to cairns city centre Con Noisy Not crazy party noisy though some people playing music and talking, the walls must be thin as I can hear conversations (not clearly) outside Bathroom floods (not badly) when you shower so when you shower the water will come next to the toilet afterwards The room has a smell and the carpet felt dirty and old I won’t be back

We stayed in Colonial Club Cairns Resort for 4 nights. We had a really spacious room with 2 double beds. The room was not serviced daily. As we arrived late in the evening, we grabbed a pizza from their restaurant before hitting the bed. I wouldn't rate the breakfast as it was very basic, nothing special. The grounds of the resort was really nice with 3 pools. We saw lots of families and a large group of young adults during our stay. Location wise, it's just a 20min drive from the city centre.
