Our family holiday from NSW to the Sunshine Coast was wrecked by Aqua Vista Resort double-booking our room, and by a management team that refused to take responsibility for it. On arrival, the manager who introduced himself as Rob Crompton told us the property had been double-booked. He couldn't explain why, until he dug up an email from four months earlier that had simply never been actioned, apparently because it arrived over the Anzac Day long weekend. Four months of warning, and nothing was done. No one from Aqua Vista or Booking.com contacted us beforehand to warn us or fix it in advance, we found out standing at reception with our kids and luggage. What followed was worse than the mistake itself. The manager on site could not operate the Booking.com platform, not to check the reservation, not to cancel it, nothing, which is the one action that would have let Booking.com step in and arrange proper last-minute accommodation. When Booking.com rang the property directly that day to sort it out, he wouldn't engage with them either. He told us, unprompted, that he and his co-manager Jennifer Birdsall run 80+ properties and thousands of bookings a year, apparently to reassure us this was a rare mistake. Instead it told us he understood exactly how big an operation he runs, and still couldn't be bothered fixing his own error. He refused to cover the cost of alternative accommodation, so we were left to scramble and find something ourselves, on the day, at more than double the price, with almost nothing left available. Booking.com eventually refunded the original booking, but that's where the resort's involvement ended. Since then we've spent well over 10 hours across multiple phone calls with Booking.com, being passed between agents, re-sending the same invoices and bank statements repeatedly, and being quoted a token $90 "difference" instead of the actual shortfall, before finally getting anywhere close to being made whole. None of that should have been our problem to solve. We were out $732.90 of our own money for a mistake this resort admitted was theirs on the day. If you're considering this resort, know that when something goes wrong, and clearly it can, don't expect management to step up.

Anniversary trip with my partner. Perfect location, incredible views from the 9th floor. Awesome deep bath to relax in, walking distance to so many great cafes, shops, restaurants. Sauna, jacuzzi pool and spa were great. Staff were awesome we would definitely stay here again.
