This review is particularly disappointing to write because the property itself is beautiful. We were genuinely excited about our stay and had been looking forward to it for quite some time. Unfortunately, what should have been a relaxing holiday was ruined by one major issue that could have been easily prevented. After our first night, we woke exhausted due to an extremely faulty mattress. It had a significant sag in the middle, causing both of us to roll into the centre throughout the night. It was impossible to get a comfortable night’s sleep. We raised the issue with reception the following morning. The housekeeping staff did everything they could and were genuinely helpful, but they confirmed the mattress really needed replacing. Unfortunately, there wasn’t another suitable mattress available. Given that the bed was not fit for purpose, we asked whether we could check out and receive a full refund so we could find alternative accommodation. We were told the best they could offer was a $200-per-night refund, and that only the manager had the authority to approve a full refund. We were advised he would call us. When the manager eventually contacted us, the conversation was extremely disappointing. Rather than showing empathy or acknowledging that we had paid for accommodation with a usable bed, he immediately became defensive and aggressive. He suggested we were only raising the issue to obtain a refund and implied that because the property had provided everything else, the faulty mattress wasn’t sufficient reason for us to leave. His tone, demeanour, and complete lack of customer service made an already frustrating situation much worse. A comfortable bed is one of the most fundamental expectations when paying for accommodation. While the property itself is lovely and the housekeeping staff genuinely tried to help, the manager’s handling of the situation completely overshadowed the experience. I sincerely hope the mattress has since been replaced and that management adopts a far more customer-focused approach when genuine issues arise. Had the problem been handled professionally and with empathy, this review would have been very different.

Beautiful apartment. Direct pool access from private deck. Well worth booking one of the Shantara apartments. Quiet complex, with gorgeous surrounds and gardens. Walkable to everywhere in town. 5- 10 mins to cafe's and restaurants on main strip. 10 mins to marina. Less than 10 mins to 4 mile beach (netted section).

Would definitely recommend the Shantara. Could not fault a thing. Fabulous apartment, very clean and well appointed. Pool was warm and plenty of sun beds. Staff on the front desk were very helpful. Location is perfect as near Macrossan St and very close to 4 mile beach. Would love to return.
