Best to describe this hotel as a bit like the curate’s egg - some good and some bad, but to advertise it as a luxury hotel is, I feel, a bit over the top.
My wife and I stayed here while in Toowoomba to see the Festival of Flowers and our room, whilst small, was immaculately clean and tidy with everything we needed for our time there. Alas, when we came back to it mid afternoon after walking for some considerable time, it had not been serviced. As the cleaners were in the room next door, we asked if our room could be serviced so we could have a rest ( we are both well-into our 80s ). We then went to the foyer for about half an hour and came back to an untouched room. When the room was finally serviced, our mugs had not been washed thoroughly and used tea bags had not been replaced.
Breakfast was bog standard and so unlike the quality of the food served at Zack’s If staying at this hotel again, we would avoid breakfast there but would happily go back to Zack’s.

Burke and Wills is a beautiful hotel, and we enjoyed our stay. We stayed for four nights, and this was our second stay here at this hotel.
The positives for Burke and Wills Hotel:
- Absolutely beautiful hotel
- Hotel is situated right in the centre of Toowoomba, close to shops and restaurants
- Rooms are well appointed and lovely. There are power points beside the bed for charging devices.
- Hotel room has a minibar and offers room service.
The slightly negatives:
- On arrival, when we checked in, we were advised there is a $100 per night charge that the hotel refunds after the stay. So for us was $400 charge to our debit card. Something to be aware of. I was disappointed with this charge as I think it’s excessive. Obviously in place in case we damage the room or run away with the mini bar I assume - quite ridiculous.
- Staff were not very welcoming or friendly as they were last time we visited. I think a welcome to a hotel is so important.
Overall though, it was a lovely stay and we really enjoyed ourselves.

Overall the stay was good, there were a few things that we were disappointed with though.
Positives: Staff are really lovely, great fast check in, polite and helpful. The room was basic which is fine however it was tiny. We had one small bag and a couple of shopping bags, with minimal space to store, if you had a couple of suitcases it would be a squeeze.
The room was really clean and the bed super comfortable, the carpet at the entrance of the bathroom has started to lift and pull which made for an unpleasant moment when I stood on what ever was securing it (sharp).
The bathroom is so tiny, toilet too close to the wall and my husband had to stand to the side of it to use due to this. The shower when in use absolutely flooded the bathroom, we had to use our towels, floor towel, hand towel and the 2 face washers to mop it up. Water pressure however is amazing!
Overall our stay was nice, I think the price we paid ($200+) for what we got was a bit steep to be honest, I think $180-$190 a night is a fair price for the room.
