The Sebel Coolangatta

As regular visitors to the Blue C for many years we were really appalled and let down by our stay at the Blue C Resort when we visited recently. The whole place feels outdated and tired. Our apartment was Unit 1403 and to begin with we were shocked to find an incredibly uncomfortable double bed. Sagging and well past the point of needing replacement the bed was so bad that we both ended up with sore backs and decided that it was better to sleep in the single beds in the 2nd bedroom. To make matters worse, there was a small dog in the unit next door that barked non-stop from sunrise to sunset, which made it impossible to relax. We spoke with other people who were staying at the resort and they too had been impacted by the constant dog barking. This was not fair and not what you would expect to have to deal with during your visit and is not something we have previously experienced. Both of these issues were raised with management - both verbally and in an email that was sent through. We didn't get a response to either so clearly there is very little interest in resolving issues experienced by guests. If the management are not going to respond then hopefully the owners see this message so that they can assist. One night we were woken by a chirping smoke alarm - this was also reported to management who simply came and removed it from the ceiling of the room - it was not wired in and not connected to the building fire system from what I could see. I was very surprised. We understand that the rental apartments are often privately owned and managed by the Blue C - if I was one of the owners I'd be looking for a better managing agent. It wouldn't take much for the apartment to be great - all that would need to happen is for a little to be spent on improving the bedding and furniture, replace the mismatch of kitchen utensils, crockery and cutlery and maybe even provide a few basic items like salt, pepper etc. I'd say that the owners are probably not even aware. With so many other properties in the area that are far better maintained and better value, I’d strongly recommend not booking here and looking elsewhere. We had actually been planning another trip later this year with a large group, but after this experience, we’ll definitely be staying somewhere else.

We had a lovely stay at Blue C. It is well located near the shops, Woolworths is walking distance and there are plenty of places to eat. A short walk to beautiful beaches. The swimming pool is perfect for young children, is well maintained and was the perfect temperature. Staff are responsive and welcoming. The view is lovely. Hope to be back again someday soon.

Blue C Coolangatta well exceeded my expectations. The property is perfectly located in Coolangatta, a short stroll to everything- including cafes, restaurants and Woolworths - and all along the scenic esplanade. Very close to Kirra also and many scenic walks nearby. No need for a car. The apartments are far better appointed than I had anticipated, with newly renovated kitchen and bathrooms and ample utensils for a longer stay. And the view- wow! It truly is an ocean view and felt pretty amazing to wake up to ocean views each morning and enjoy a cuppa on the balcony. Staff are really lovely too and went out of their way to be helpful. I compared many otter properties along the esplanade (as sadly I couldn’t extend my booking here due to the property being booked out) and found other places to charge considerably more for lesser quality. I will be back here for sure!
