Majestic Old Lion

Excellently situated. It is easy to walk to the centre of town or get the bus right out door. We stayed in the annex. As others have said, the living space is quite dark with the only window in the bedroom. The apt is very well appointed. The annex is very quiet being at the back of the property. It’s a 60m walk from check in to it. Again, as previously reported by others, the WiFi is woeful. Servicing of the apt is sporadic in both frequency and on quality (only half the apt was done on one day and missed completely on 2 others. They will ask for a $100 returnable deposits on check in. Staff are ok

The room itself was nice and clean, and the checkout process was smooth and easy. However, the check-in experience really let the stay down. The receptionist who checked me in was quite rude and dismissive. While explaining how to get to the room, I tried asking a couple of questions because the directions were confusing, but I was interrupted with “let me finish.” The explanation still wasn’t very clear, and honestly a simple map of the property would have been far more helpful. I was also surprised by the $150 bond/deposit, especially since even many 5-star hotels usually only hold around $100. Overall, the room was good, but customer service at check-in definitely needs improvement.

The location of these apartments is good, close to public transport, cafes and restaurants and a park. Staff was friendly. You can book a car park space for an extra $30 a night. Originally we stayed in the Annex, a part of the complex to the very back. This apartment was very dark, dingy with old, mismatched furniture. Worst of all thought was that the building next door started building work at 6.30am in the morning. We asked to be moved, which thankfully wasn't a problem. They offered us a 3 bed apartment to the front, in a building called Barton. This apartment was much better, more space, brighter and the furniture was much nicer. Unfortunately there are carpets throughout the apartment. Not very hygienic. There is no lift in any of the building. Wifi is very slow. The apartments and complex could do with some TLC. Overall average.
