A balcony room overlooking the ocean. A comfortable place, without pretensions of luxury. It looks like a cruise ship cabin, where the regular temperature from an old air conditioner that does its job with dignity makes the experience cozy. We are on the island of an island in a simple and spectacular place. What more could you want?

We would not recommend staying at this hotel. The rating is significantly overstated. Our only reason for choosing it was its proximity to the ferry port — we didn't want to drive after dark to find accommodation elsewhere on the island, and options in the immediate area are limited. The staff were friendly and helpful, which was a bright spot, but the accommodation itself was well below an acceptable standard. The building is quite dated and appears not to have been updated in many years. Carpeting and stairways are noticeably worn, and there is no elevator. The room was not particularly clean, though the bed was comfortable and the linen and towels were fresh. On the plus side, the bathroom facilities, shower, and toilet functioned without issue. Overall, unless you find yourself in the same position we did, we'd suggest planning ahead to stay elsewhere on Kangaroo Island. By far the worst hotel we experienced in our two months in Australia, we could not wait to get out of it in the morning!

Great location, just a 1 minute drive from the port. Friendly staff. We had a villa out the back, which was spacious and well equipped. Separate lounge and bedroom as well as good sized bathroom. A little tired and the floors were quite dirty as our socks / feet were dirty after walking about. But the bathroom was clean. Bed ok. Good location for islands tour pickups. Two lovely restaurants, a pub and a supermarket, within a short walking distance. Great parking.
