YHA Adelaide Central

Having to leave at 4:00 AM to catch a flight, we booked this place to sleep for a few hours since it was not far from returning our cars and the airport. Even though we only slept for a few hours, I found it comfortable with great rooms.

I have been a loyal customer of YHA for quite some time, but I am writing to express my serious concerns regarding an incident involving the manager of the Adelaide location. A few days ago, I received a highly inappropriate and intimidating email from him, which included photos, claiming that I had left mud near my room from my work boots. While I admit it was a moment of carelessness on my part, considering it had been a particularly rainy week, I believe sending such an email for something so trivial is an overreaction. However, the situation did not end there. Unfortunately, the manager went further by invading my privacy. He rifled through my belongings, took a photo of my grinder and rolling papers (which are perfectly legal unless proven otherwise), and stated that there was a weird smell in my dorm. I would like to emphasize that, as the room was a dormitory, there were multiple people staying there, and I would like to know what evidence led him to single me out for the accusation. Furthermore, none of my roommates or even a staff member noticed any such odor. The following day, when I returned to the hostel, I was informed by a staff member that the manager had targeted me further, going back into my room to seize my grinder and deciding to refuse any future extensions of my stay at the hostel. A person who is so neglectful of others’ privacy should not be entrusted with managing such an important facility. All he has done is send me an email and abuse his power to enter my dormitory and seize my personal belongings without any right to do so, without ever seeking any explanation from me. I would also like to bring to your attention that I am a medical marijuana patient, prescribed by my doctor for chronic health issues. The manager actions over the course of three days caused me significant stress and frustration, as it interfered with my ability to take my prescribed medication properly. The seizure of my grinder, which I reiterate is a perfectly legal item, severely impacted my well-being. As a result, I am seriously considering pursuing legal action through my attorney against the manager and YHA Central.

Great hostel , I can not fault it. However I stayed in a private room with a friend, so I don't know what the dorms are like. From my experience of checking in and the professionalism of the staff I cart fault, they were also friendly and helpful. The level 1 kitchen and dinning area was a great spot to hang out , even if you weren't cooking. reasonably centrallly located and Close to the bus to the airport and Adelaide central bus station.
