Claerwen Retreat

It's a bit of a mission to get to Claerwen Retreat (sat nav can be a little hit and miss), but once you're there, it's absolutely amazing. It's such a magical place, well worth the long drive from Melbourne CBD. The retreat surroundings are gorgeous. Highly recommended for a weekend getaway or even longer if you can afford the time. I will definitely be rebooking a stay.

We had a very pleasant and relaxing stay at Claerwen retreat. Although it is not open for tourists anymore Cornelia made an exception for us because of a previous commitment. On the top of the hill it is a small paradise with the most beautifull surrroundings you can imagine, including several resident Koala's. We stayed in a seperate unit which overlooked the coast and had every comfort you need. The drive up there on the not-sealed road is not difficult at all and can be easily done day and night. It is worth a try to send Cornelia a message if she allows tourists again because if she does you will not regret it.

Booked this for two nights through Sarah at Trailfinders for part of my great ocean rd drive,welcomed by the owner and had a rm off the main bungalow room was fantastic lounge area was perfect ,breakfast informal and very good, staff amazing wildlife out of this world kangaroo's at dawn and dusk ,a Koala wandering across the paddock during the evening deer in the woods and an echidna having a rest by the kitchen dr.I stayed back in October and am sorry not to have posted a reveiw earlier,but sitting down to write this has made me smile.Have to drive into town to fetch a bottle of wine to sit with in the evening and find a place to eat but the staff will book you somewhere and its worth taking on board their advice.If you can get a rm here BOOK IT!!!!!.A magical place..
