BEST WESTERN Barkly Motor Lodge

This room was nothing short of disgusting. Black mould in bathroom - on ceiling and bathroom tiles. Dangerous to get in and out of bath/shower arrangement due to the deep bath. Filth on the hairdryer and the toilet brush has never been cleaned. The walls were dirty and covered in dust. Booking.com rated this motel at 3.5 stars hence our decision to stay here. Awful experience. Nothing like the images provide on the internet. This is no excuse for poor housekeeping!!

The staff were quite friendly. The restaurant attached has tasty food. The cleanliness of the room was not great! The plug for the bath didn’t fit and asked for another one, which they did bring straight down. It had black mould all under it, There was black mould all over the bathroom roof. Was cleaned when asked but had to give instructions to the cleaner on how to do it and explain that it’s a health hazard. The dust in the room is something else!! Found some interesting items in the beside drawer.., glad they weren’t found by my son. The location is quite good. Met our needs. The bed is okay. Sheets clean and bed well made. Very noisy. A family must live upstairs. Didn’t bother us as I have a young child but may bother others. The room was quite cheap but the cleanliness was the worst I’ve seen in any motel ever. I booked this hotel through wotif, decided to pay on arrival at a higher rate as was not sure we would definitely be staying there at the time I booked it as driving through the town back home, booked approx 2 weeks prior. The week we went on vacation, we definitely thought we would stop there on the way home and intended to stay. My husband was attending the football which was a later game than thought, so I was waiting with my son to leave. I had 4 missed calls on my mobile from a number I didn’t know between 6:45 and 6:52pm. No messages were left so I assumed it was a telemarketer. I then had an unknown number call which I answered, I could hardly hear the caller and thought again it must have been telemarketer so I hung up. I then got a text message from the number called earlier saying I was banned from Ballarat for the rest of my life! I called the number back straight away and asked if it was the accommodation as they didn’t advise who they were when they picked up the phone. They said yes and that they had called me all afternoon, that I was dodgy and was never coming. They had not been calling me all afternoon, in fact when I called back it was 7:05, 20 mins after they first tried to call me. Lady was very rude on the phone, never experienced such bad customer service prior to even getting to the hotel! Certainly left an impression of that accommodation and I feel sorry for the staff that work there and anyone who comes into contact with this lady. Definitely didn’t seem like she wanted our business. Ended up staying at another hotel in Ballarat which was lovely.
