Apartments On Lygon

These apartments have been upgraded since our last stay (some years ago!) What we love - as interstate visitors: Location: if you drive here it is easy access, with on site parking; if you fly here, there is a shuttle bus (ask for details). The tram stop is just 2 mins walk away - straight into the City, via Lygon Street shopping and restaurant strip. Rathdowne Village - a few mins easy stroll to the milk bar (buy or top up your Myki card here), restaurants, shops, cafes, bars, park, hairdressers. Access is private and secure. Accessibility could be an issue for some. We had a ground floor apartment, and had no problem with the 2 steps at the entrance. But there is no lift, and stairs to upper floors could be difficult to negotiate with suitcases. Comfort: in spite of being 'on' Lygon Street, this is very quiet. The beds are comfortable; good linen and towels. Bathroom and amenities are good- love the generous hot shower. Spacious living area, with plenty of seating, plus dining table and chairs, flat screen tv, books and board games. A pleasant and private patio - we were on the ground floor. And an efficient air con unit. Good wifi. Kitchen: is good for those who want to self-cater, with fridge, oven, cooktop, microwave, and a small Nespresso machine with capsules. Also provided: milk in fridge, teas, instant coffee, sugar, - enough to get you started. Communication with Manager was excellent - we received a text message in the morning confirming check in arrangements etc (Thank you - although we never actually met!) Value: for the location and comfort this is priced very reasonably. And our 'test' question is always: Would we return? A resounding YES.

The room are dated but clean and cozy. The apartment kitchen facilities is ok.But no wifi available. Having free car park .Near to restaurants and tram station so we can travel to city center. It is good value for money.

We booked a ground floor apartment for 3 nights. Aware there is no lift and as my partner is unable to climb stairs a ground floor unit was essential. Booking confirmed and we were looking forward to our short break and meeting up with our friends. On arrival at reception we were informed the apartment we had booked was not available as it had been sold. We were stunned. Why had no-one contacted us? Receptionist then said we can put you (exact words) in a second floor apartment but that is all there is. We reminded the receptionist of the necessity for a ground floor apartment but were told there was nothing he could do. Not very helpful . The manager was on the premises but would not come out of his office to speak with us. The staff were completely disinterested . There was no apology. No offer to assist finding alternative accommodation . Nothing. So we are now in Melbourne on a Saturday with no suitable accommodation and all our plans in disarray. We tried several other places but there was nothing suitable or affordable . So we ended up in Ballarat for 1 night and had to find alternative accommodation for the next 2 nights. What a terrible time .
