The Swanston Hotel Grand Mercure

Disappointing stay. Be careful when you leave your luggage at their storage room. Our bags get stolen from the storage room. The hotel, especially their general manager, refused to take a blame for losing our bags from their property and give any compensation for our lost items even though we are a diamond accor member. Still get no updates from them until today.

I only stayed here for one night. The hotel is in a great central location with the trams running right outside it. My check-in and check-out was efficient, however lacked the warmth and sincerity of its sister hotel that I had just experienced in Sydney. The room was beautiful, as was the bathroom with great water pressure in the shower. However, the view from the room lets this property down. My window just looked into the grey wall of the building behind, hence me removing one star. This is ok for a night or two, but for a long stay is definitely not suitable. The bedding and pillows were great and it was nice to have a selection of cable tv channels as well. Overall a very good stay and I would definitely recommend this property and would return myself.

We called into Blossoms fot a Happy Hour drink and could not have been more impressed. I nneded to sit on a low seat indoors and when we asked if we could sit in the dining area it was not a problem. The staff were so pleasant and helpful, the atmosphere was so friendly and, although we did not eat the food looked fantastic. A large group had ordered a special charcuterie platter, we were very envious, and our seated neightbours had a steak and pizza both looked and smelt very appetising. We live locally and will absolutely be back. It's great to find such ahidden gem in the city centre.
