Hotel Schloss Seefels

The smell of oil at the entrance and inside the restaurant bothered me. The view is pretty, but there are many restaurants that have a similar view around Lake Wörthersee, for example the Hotel Linden, the Portofino restaurant, etc. The avocado and cucumber soup was excellent, but the Tafelspitz was dry and tough. The variety of breads offered was also questionable. While heading to the reception from the restaurant, a man was sleeping on the lounge chair in his room. There wasn't even a curtain to ensure him some privacy! In summary, the price-to-quality ratio is poor for this hotel that claims to be a 5-star.

The occasion was our 13-year anniversary. Was bitterly disappointed. Fish soup was good, schnitzel so-so, boiled beef dried out… service very nice from trainees, the manager didn't even stop by - he only took care of one table. Wine warm.. After great experiences at the hotel Linde Maria Wörth & Portofino Velden, this dinner was old-fashioned, nothing special (no innovation whatsoever) and Euro 200 for very bad and sad food. A view isn't everything - the spark is missing

My wife and I were visiting Vienna and wanted to experience something in the Austrian countryside on the water. A few years ago we had a wonderful experience at Villa D’Este and were looking for something similar. We booked a quick 1 night trip to Hotel Schloss Seefels and were absolutely delighted with the experience. From the moment the hotel met us at the local train station to the final drop off there, everything was impeccable. The lake, and holistically the hotel setting, is absolutely gorgeous. Seating never felt crowded anywhere near the water. Wildlife is abundant, there was a mother duck with her baby ducks waddling around and we saw pretty large fish right off the shore regularly. If you are a fan of Sauna they have two. A small 2-3 person one and a much larger one they call Panorama Sauna. This one has a long stretch of large windows facing the lake. The Panorama Sauna is huge and gorgeous. It could likely hold 20 people although we usually had it to ourselves. Interestingly, we were the “youngest” guests (we are in our 40s) and we didn’t see anybody with young children. I suspect we were also the only Americans there. It felt like an authentic European vacation with old school service and attention to detail. I would high recommend a visit!
