Very disappointing experience
Very disappointing stay at the MONDI Hotel Bellevue.
We paid €22 per day for each dog as a pet supplement. When our room was not cleaned, we contacted the front desk. Initially, we were told that the room had been cleaned and that the towels had been changed, which did not correspond to reality.
Subsequently, it was explained to us that daily cleaning is not provided and is only carried out occasionally. We therefore received contradictory information just when we reported the problem.
Paying a supplement of €22 per day per dog and then receiving unclear explanations about the service offered was very disappointing.
We expected greater clarity and professionalism. We will not return and we do not recommend this hotel.

We spent a week at MONDI Hotel Bellevue Gastein, and it exceeded our expectations. It was one of those rare hotels that genuinely became part of our holiday experience rather than just a place to sleep.
We stayed in Building 5, which has been recently renovated. Our room was exceptionally spacious, modern and thoughtfully designed, with plenty of storage for clothes and luggage. The addition of USB charging ports was very convenient, and my daughter absolutely loved having her own separate room.
The highlight, however, was the balcony. Waking up every morning to breathtaking views of the Alpine mountains was magical. My daughter couldn’t wait to open the curtains each morning, and my wife and I spent many peaceful mornings over coffee and evenings before bed simply sitting on the balcony, taking in the incredible scenery. Those moments will stay with us for a long time.
The room was spotlessly clean throughout our stay. Housekeeping was excellent, and towels were replaced whenever requested. We also had a fully equipped kitchen. We didn’t use it much ourselves, but my cousin, who stayed on the same floor, found it extremely useful.
The breakfast deserves a special mention. The variety and quality were outstanding. We particularly loved the excellent selection of cheeses, smoked salmon and ham. The fresh pancakes every morning were a family favourite, and the coffee was consistently excellent. One feature I especially enjoyed was making my own fresh fruit juice every day. Everything tasted incredibly fresh, and even the water had that pure Alpine quality.
If I could suggest one improvement, it would be the toaster. It frequently broke down during breakfast, and it wasn’t ideal for the fresh bread that guests slice themselves. A few additional pop-up toasters would make the breakfast experience even better.
The spa and wellness facilities are excellent. One helpful tip for international visitors: the traditional Austrian/German sauna culture is textile-free, so guests are expected to use the sauna without swimwear. It may surprise first-time visitors, but I found it to be a very relaxing and authentic experience.
The staff were exceptional throughout our stay. Reception was always welcoming, and Tanja deserves a special mention for her kindness and helpfulness, especially during check-in. Another memorable member of staff was a gentleman from Afghanistan who always greeted us with a smile, proudly told us “I love India”, and even sang a few Shah Rukh Khan Bollywood songs. It completely amused—and slightly confused—my British teenage daughter! Those small personal interactions made our stay feel genuinely special.
The location is excellent. The hotel is only about five minutes from Bad Gastein railway station and just a couple of minutes from the town centre. However, it’s worth remembering that this is the Alps—the walk is steep, so if you’re travelling with large suitcases, I’d recommend taking a taxi rather than trying to wheel luggage uphill.
We stayed for a full week and enjoyed every single day. Bad Gastein has a unique charm, combining spectacular Alpine scenery with a relaxed spa-town atmosphere. We would happily recommend MONDI Hotel Bellevue to anyone visiting the area and will definitely return.
As they say… Bad Gastein? More like Very Good Gastein! 🇦🇹

I am a writer but I can't find the words to describe the Mondi. From the moment you enter the lobby with a view of the Alps on the other end, you feel like you have found a place that you may never want to leave. The reception you get from Tonja, Polina along with Andreas and others make you feel like you've walked onto a time tunnel of long lost friends. In that lobby they have live music a couple of times a week and it is a very entertaining evening. Norbert and Julian will keep you supplied with excellent drinks (Norbert makes very good Moscow Mules). I wish I could remember the other bartender's name as he deserves credit for his efficient service. If you go hungry at the Mondi, it is your own fault. They have a very large breakfast buffet and the lunch for less than 10 euros includes a drink! The Mondi is located right in the middle of town with a short walk to any restaurant or shopping you may want. If you walk up to the higher level of the town, you will find more shopping and a grocery store to get any needed snacks. Also in that area is the train and bus station. Use you visitor card for free transportation all around the area. The rooms were comfortable and the kitchen was a helpful bonus. The spa area will blow you away. There were at least 3 indoor relaxation areas and at least 2 outside. They have 2 saunas and a steam room. You have to experience Sauna Meister Alex and his sauna treatment. With alternating 6 different scented oils with the water and poured onto the rocks permeates your skin and relaxes you so much which is why he only does this twice a day and at 7:30 and 8:30. Catch the earlier one so you can use the relaxation rooms before dragging yourself to bed. They have an indoor pool that looks out over the Austrian Alps, huge hot tub big enough for 20 friends, and an outdoor sun deck that is filled with lounge chairs and tables to enjoy an outdoor meal. The deck covers the roof top and could easily hold 100 people. If you have gone this far congratulations because I could continue well into the night about our week at the Mondi.
