Best Western Plus Parkhotel Brunauer

Salzburg is expensive, so this hotel is mid-range based on that but felt pricey for what you get (for example, no breakfast included in the basic room rate and although perfectly clean the hotel did feel dated). Location was convenient to the train station (less than 10 minute walk - versus other hotels closer to center of city are a 30 minute walk from train station). Because of the location, it is about a 30 minute walk from central old city, but as long as weather is nice, it is very pleasant and can do most of the walk along the scenic pedestrian river paths. Room was clean and quiet, although when windows/door open (it was nice weather), could hear other guests in neighboring rooms clearly. I only had a 1 night stay (which felt like PLENTY of time in Salzburg, nice city with museums/castles/old town to visit for 24 hours but unless you are into Mozart or music festival, don't need more than a day here!)

Near the station and away from the center on foot about 25 minutes; the structure is old and the room is more so. The furniture is definitely dated, the anteroom is large (small) as the bedroom and the bathroom is a 2mt x 2mt. Cleanliness is good. Parking is charged for 9 euros per day. Normal breakfast. If you find the reasonable price for one night it can be fine.

Good and quiet location near train station and although a little away from the city centre, it is easy to use public transport between them. Staff are helpful, but often not very proficient speaking English. Payment in full is required at checkin. Room was small and the shower unit tiny, but clean and well presented. Walls are thin, so you hear your neighbors as well as any activity on the hallway. The advertised sauna turned out to be "under renovation" - something they forgot to inform about on their website. You can leave luggage on the day of checkout, but not against a receipt, just communally in a locked room. This is advertised as a 4-star hotel, which is really a stretch.
