Apartment Brixental

When you arive at the apartments there is nobody to help you check in. No towels no bedsheets you just have to get it somewhere. Rooms are dirty smal and old. You have to put you're skie equipment in a room with no lock or security. It becomes a big shoppingmall for burglars. The rooms are above a pub so there is a lot of noise during the night. Do not book this hotel its horrible.

When we were booking our ski holiday for March 2019, we read all reviews online about Apartments Brixental in Hopfgarten. Based on these reviews, and the fact that the operator we booked with listed the venue as the cheapest, we had low expectations. I can confirm that the reviews are accurate, but that with these in mind our stay was fine. So, what to expect to make sure that you will have a good enough (or cheap enough) stay; - no, the reception is not very flexible or friendly - no, the kitchen is not very well equipped with all that you need; it is possible to cook a meal - no, the bathroom is not state of the art or super clean (but it was fine) - no, there is no real cosy atmosphere like you would expect in a typical Austrian skiing resort (e.g. the ones with full board where families are staying) - no, the beds are not of superb quality - no, it is impossible to hide from the church bells every morning (although if you are tired enough, you will be fine) - the location is 5 - 10 minutes away from the lifts up the mountain. Given this distance and the fact that the residence does not have a proper ski room, I highly recommend booking a ski locker at the lifts (do not go with Intersport, they are very unfriendly) - there is bar downstairs with loud music. In most apartments, like ours, you will not hear the noise. However, the guests staying in the apartment next above the bar did complain about the noise and not being able to catch sleep. Please take this into account! What we did appreciate however is - enough parking space in the back (private parking) - heating worked fine - fairly spacious (in France, for instance, usually the 4 persons apartments are very small) - ok enough clean - cleaning materials (detergent, sponge) was provided - it is possible to order bread everyday (to be picked up in the morning at the reception) - early checkout (if you indicate this soon enough the day before) So, adding it all up, if you keep your expectations low, you will be fine.

If you pay peanuts, you get monkeys so we didn't expected much when booking this appartment. Clean room, not very spacious but ok and near the slopes (500m). The only thing that should be free = 'hospitality' was not available 😡
