Grand Hotel Mercure Biedermeier Wien

I chose to stay at this hotel because it is part of the Accor group and I was looking for a property with a vintage charm. Unfortunately, I found very few positives during my stay. The hotel is located slightly away from the main road, down a narrow lane, making it impossible to bring a car directly to the entrance for luggage drop-off. The lift is very small, the rooms are compact, and most do not offer a pleasant outside view. During the hot summer of June 2026, the air conditioning was not working at all. Although the hotel tried to provide fans to some rooms, it did little to improve the situation. Sleeping comfortably was very difficult. There were a few positives. The staff were helpful and courteous. A special mention goes to Reme, who was an angel to me by arranging a properly working fan for my room. The hotel bar was also quite good. Overall, my stay was uncomfortable, and I eventually moved to the InterContinental Vienna, where I enjoyed a much more comfortable stay with effective air conditioning and better facilities.

We stayed here with friends for three nights. There is a alley way which is lined with small shops, leading to the hotel which is decorated with umbrellas. It is in a great location to reach all the main attractions. The hotel has a lot of lovely charm. The check-in staff were friendly and quick and were available throughout our stay. The bar staff were great too. Our bedroom was clean, comfortable and airy. There was also tea/coffee and kettle in the room. The bathroom was large with shower in bath and came with toiletries. The breakfast had a good selection of breads, biscuits, cakes, yogurt, cereals, cheeses, cold meats and eggs cooked to your liking. Great coffee and smoothies. I would recommend a stay here.

It was an excellent hotel, nice room and excelent breakfast. The subway is very close and it was very easy to reach all the main attractions
