A&O Wien Hauptbahnhof

Really wish we'd read the reviews properly. This is by far the least enjoyable hostel experience we've ever had and we've hostelled a LOT all over the world. It's a huge place, loads of guests, our room was tiny though some looked bigger. No aircon, no fans - boiling hot in summer, noisy. There was no kitchen, not even a kettle, the 'guest kitchen' had been ripped out and was empty. No way to cook anything. The laundry was out of use. Overflowing bins and trolleys of unwashed dishes downstairs. The poor staff looked fed up and overworked (they said many staff had left recently which wasn't surprising!) Everything was a bit grubby - dusty floors, grimy towel rail. Communal areas grey and dated. The sheets and beds were at least clean and breakfast was edible, though very unexciting. Won't be returning.

From May 25, 2026, to May 29, 2026, our class 4a was accommodated at the a&o Hostel Vienna Main Station as part of the initiative "Austria's youth gets to know their federal capital." The location was very good due to its proximity to the main train station. Nevertheless, it was very quiet in the alley. The staff was nice and friendly. The food was good. The staff was very friendly. The price-performance ratio is appropriate. Thank you for the lovely week! Middle School Weitensfeld

We had a 4-bed room on the 4th floor. It was clean. In the morning, there was a slight smell from the drain in the bathroom. For breakfast, there were rolls, multigrain rolls, or toast available. Everything was basically there for a standard breakfast. The highlight for the children was the pancake machine. Self check-in worked well. Beautiful hotel in colonial style.
