Hotel Restaurant Fritz Matauschek

The location is away from the center but there's a U-Bahn U-1 station steps away and also a #10 tram stop. I had a one week transit pass so I could take trams and U-Bahn all the time. Take the U-3/U-1 U-Bahn to and from the Hauptbanhoff in about 30 minutes. Schonnbrum palace is a 15 minute tram or 30 minute walk away. Stpahplatz 15 minutes on the U-Bahn. The neighborhood is not posh but more of a perfectly safe appearing working class/immigrant neighborhood. That means there are small and larger supermarkets nearby, banks, stores, kebab place etc., which I all find interesting and useful. Maybe no posh little bars etc. like in Mariahof where I've stayed before. I chose a room off the street with shower/toilet down the hall. Everything was simple and new in the small but adequate room. It had a safe for valuables in the closet. Comfortable twin bed. It was fine. I looked in an open en-suite bathroom room and everything was new there also. The breakfast was not posh but fine - German/Austrian style, served not buffet style - check the photo. The owner/managers were friendly and accommodating. Excellent choice for travelers with a transit pass who want to save some money.

Our journey through Europe 2019 took my husband and I to Vienna. We took a taxi to get to this property from central station. Property has no air conditioner and hotel has no ventilators to lend you. We had to open the window facing the street. Street is too noisy because every so often the tram goes by making a lot of noise. Hotel is located near Metro station which is a plus. Breakfast is good.

Very clean and friendly. Very comfortable bed and quiet room, if not air conditioned. Breakfast was very good, lots of food. Right across the road from a metro station. Couple of adequate restaurants nearby.
