Hotel Vienna

Well-served hotel, close to the station from where you can take the train to and from the airport or the metro that will take you to the city center in just a few stops. Thus, easily reachable in about 8 to 10 minutes on foot. The area offers not only a well-stocked Lidl but also the aforementioned station, and not far away is the immense amusement park with the oldest Ferris wheel in the world. You arrive at the hotel, which I remember is a 4-star establishment. The key sounds strange to me, and not the magnetic card: thus, a quick check-in, and I go to my room to refresh myself from the scorching day, which was atypical for Vienna. I enter the room and look for the air conditioning, which is instead ABSENT throughout the hotel, where I had assumed it would be a given given the category. The room is an oven, and at night I barely saved myself with a fan; the second night with two fans. And to think that the room, though minimal, is nice and renovated. Shower with a nice flow. Cooking utensils of different weights were not provided, just like water inside the fridge. Just a sad waffle on one side with the corresponding machine. It's a pity that upon entering the room, I found used toilet paper in the bathroom and a damp towel, as if someone had washed their hands. Let it be clear, I was annoyed and did not make a tragedy out of it, but I reported it to the reception because I pay, and these issues should not happen. Mediocre breakfast, not very varied and very, very industrial. And to think that the staff is friendly and willing (except for the one who thought it was a good idea to use my towel before my arrival). Failed, especially in summer, such heat I have never endured, without air conditioning is madness.

Honestly, I struggle to understand the numerous positive reviews because during our stay we had a decidedly negative experience and could not find aspects that justify the 4-star rating. First of all, this establishment does not offer the standards expected from a 4-star hotel. The rooms lack air conditioning, the sound insulation is insufficient, the balcony was dirty, and the ashtray had not been emptied before our arrival. The most serious issue concerned the refrigerator in the room, which was not working, in a city that was experiencing temperatures of about 100°F during those days. When we requested to check the malfunction and find a solution, we were told that "the refrigerators are broken" and that it was not possible to intervene. The only proposed solution was to store our drinks in the hotel bar's refrigerator. Noticing that nothing had been done throughout the day to resolve the issue, we again requested the replacement of the refrigerator or, alternatively, a room change. On this occasion, the attitude of the staff at the reception became even aggressive and unprofessional. Only after filing a complaint through Booking.com were we finally assigned another room. Even the so-called "rich breakfast" left us quite perplexed. Those who define it as such probably have very low expectations regarding hotel standards: the selection was limited and some products, like the cold cuts, appeared not very fresh. The only real strength of this hotel is its location. However, in the same area, there are numerous other establishments that offer a decidedly better service, professional staff, and adequate quality standards.

We stayed for 7 nights in this wonderful hotel. The staff was consistently very friendly, attentive, and considerate. The room was spacious and clean, the bathroom as well (personally, I missed ventilation here since there was no window). The beds were very comfortable, and the connection to the subway, train, and bus services was easy and quickly accessible. The breakfast was very diverse, qualitatively delicious, and presented appealingly. We could always store our suitcases for free both on arrival and departure; information and tips for excursions, restaurants, and events were always available at the reception. For our next trip to Vienna, we will choose this hotel again, as it had everything we needed and wanted. (Perhaps a few more hangers would be nice, but that's just a minor detail;-) Warm regards and thank you for the wonderful days
