Mercure Grandhotel Biedermeier Wien

Just stayed here for 4 days. Great place, clean and well located (next to an Aldi and a short walk from the U-Bahn, which is a must for getting around. Staff very friendly and helpful. Its bigger than what you think and our room overlooked the alley below. There's a beautiful terrace for something to eat or (as we did) start our night off there with a drink. We'd often return around 10pm where we'd sit on the chairs in the alleyway before going up to the room.

Slept wonderfully last night at the Mercure Biedemeier. The hotel is wonderfully quiet and it is only a ten minute walk to the city. The hotel room did have a too small shower that Dutch people of 1.80 do not fit under... the air conditioning did work well. This morning we could participate for free in a walk along courtyards/courtyards and the lesser known churches of Vienna city center. It was a wonderful trip and a nice way to discover the less visible side of Vienna. Highly recommended!

I chose to stay at this hotel because it is part of the Accor group and I was looking for a property with a vintage charm. Unfortunately, I found very few positives during my stay. The hotel is located slightly away from the main road, down a narrow lane, making it impossible to bring a car directly to the entrance for luggage drop-off. The lift is very small, the rooms are compact, and most do not offer a pleasant outside view. During the hot summer of June 2026, the air conditioning was not working at all. Although the hotel tried to provide fans to some rooms, it did little to improve the situation. Sleeping comfortably was very difficult. There were a few positives. The staff were helpful and courteous. A special mention goes to Reme, who was an angel to me by arranging a properly working fan for my room. The hotel bar was also quite good. Overall, my stay was uncomfortable, and I eventually moved to the InterContinental Vienna, where I enjoyed a much more comfortable stay with effective air conditioning and better facilities.
