Schneider Goessl

We were four people and had reserved a table at 18:00. It surprised us a bit that it was so empty and quiet for a Heuriger. In hindsight I have to say we were just too early. The staff was attentive and friendly and the drinks were served quickly. Our ordered food arrived quickly .But the food is still air up. After an hour, the place filled up and a solo entertainer joined in. Now it was fun and the atmosphere of the Heurigen was in full swing. The accordion player came to the table for entertainment and there was singing and swaying. Peter played songs of his choice and so it was a nice evening.

We hired an apartment from the Hotel Schneider-Gössl Hotel a short way down the road at 14 Firmiangasse. The apartment was well appointed and somewhat quirky. It was serviced and this was done daily and efficiently. The supermarket (a Co-op) was a five minute walk away as was an excellent bakery. The Ober St. Viet U-Bahn (U4) was a ten minute walk in the other direction and this route takes you direct into Karlsplatz and the centre of tourist Vienna. Be aware that the community of St. Viet is mainly German speaking with little English great for us but not for everybody. Oh Schonbrunn palace is only six minutes on the U4!

Typical Austrian "pension". Truly quite oldish but very clean. The district, the best residential district in Vienna, is nice, pretty and quiet. Those are the pluses. Minuses now, unfortunatly quite a few. Terrible WiFi: only worked properly in the breakfast room, not at all in our room. At breakfast, seemingly good expresso machine coming with the most horrible coffee I had in all of Europe. A few smiles to the clients would be a good idea.
