Hotel Papageno

This hotel is at walkable distance from Stephanzplatz(Uban) .. Good experiences good stay as I was a solo traveller.. One can consider this even when on solo trip.. Museum at walkable distance too....

NOTE: My review is based on one of the smallest and cheapest rooms in the whole hotel (Room 451). On Booking.com, it's referred to as a "Budget Single Room." My photos and experience are specific to this room, which truly only fits one person. My rating is relative to the price. It was 44€/night including taxes, not including breakfast, on December 30 and 31. You can get it for less when it's not as busy. I suspect this particular room is relatively new because the bathroom and furnishings were in good shape, unlike what other reviewers have reported. The wi-fi signal in the room was good too. The room was basic and tiny but just what I needed for a 2-night solo stopover in Vienna, on a tight budget. The bed felt kinda cheap but I didn't expect more for what I was paying. I was surprised there was a TV with cable. The front desk staff that I met were nice, but there's no 24-hour presence. I saw that their hours were 6 am to 11 pm on January 1st, 2017, but I don't know if that's the same all year. If you expect to arrive at an odd hour, contact them ahead of time and confirm their availability. Otherwise, there will be nobody to check you in. I didn't have the breakfast so I can't comment, but there are a few good breakfast joints within walking distance that open at 8 am. It's a pretty convenient location, about 5 minutes on foot to the Taubstummengasse subway station (Line U1) and 10 minutes to the Karlsplatz station, which is one of the key central stations that connect to other lines. Getting to the airport was a breeze with the subway and City Airport Train.

We stayed for one night at the Hotel Papageno, which was already enough. The rooms are very old which doesnt necessarily has to be something bad but the bed was unacceptable. The mattresse were through and I was literally lying on the spring core which made it impossible to sleep. The bathroom was ok but the showerhead was broken and calcified and so was the holder - i had to hold the showerhead myself. Admittedly, we had a budget room but not even for a low price it should be such a bad standard.
