My husband and I had an amazing stay. The owner, Lyne, was so friendly and accommodating. The moment we walked in, the adornments on the wall, the living area where breakfast was served, was so welcoming. The guesthouse overlooks the canal so while you’re having breakfast, you can look over and have a view of all the boats passing by with the cool breeze coming in. Like other reviewers said, the daily breakfast was amazing—a full bread and pastry basket with fresh made jams, plate full of cheeses and prosciutto, plate full of fresh fruit which was artfully decorated, along with eggs your way, with bacon and mushrooms and tomatoes. Of course, there’s a coffee machine in which you have multiple choices of how you want your caffeine fix in the morning. We stayed in the Suite Aubusson and it was very spacious. There was a jetted tub, separate shower, separate seating area with a couch to relax, and the decor was very charming and added to the historical atmosphere. I enthusiastically recommend staying here if you’re visiting Bruges. The guesthouse provides that old world charm and a peaceful night’s rest. I definitely want to return here!!

Bruges is a beautiful city to visit and I’m delighted we stayed at the Guesthouse Bonifacius. Having read reviews, this was the place we wanted to stay at, and we were not disappointed. It’s an absolute gem and the host, Lyne, is impeccable. Her warmth and attentiveness along with her staff, cannot be faulted. She is the perfect host! We were made to feel extremely welcome with a glass of champagne and Lyne explaining the many places of interest in Bruges. The guesthouse is situated on a canal overlooking the Church of Our Lady and Bonifacius Bridge, our canal suite room had this superb view, which is the same as the breakfast room, known as the Gothic room. Our room was sumptuous and very comfortable, giving a good night’s sleep. The bathroom with Molten Brown toiletries was splendid with a shower, double basins and whirlpool bath. There was a complimentary mini bar which was welcome after a day in Bruges. We enjoyed sitting up on the roof terrace overlooking the canal and church with a drink. Breakfast was a wonderful experience and the perfect start to the day! To begin there is a glass of freshly squeezed orange juice and a fresh fruit platter with delightful heart shaped melon 😊. To follow is a choice of eggs with assorted accompaniments, freshly prepared in a hot iron skillet. There is an accompanying side selection of freshly baked breads, croissants, spreads, cheese and Prosciutto di Parma. There’s a wide selection of different teas and coffees and of course a glass of champagne with a raspberry soaking in it. If there is any room left, a freshly made waffle finishes breakfast. In all, we could not fault anything of our time spent at Guesthouse Bonifacius. It’s a delightful, relaxing, romantic place to stay and immensely recommend it. Even the guide in our canal boat spoke highly of the guesthouse when we went past on a trip and he had no connection to it at all.

What a serendipity find, just turn a quiet cobbled stone corner and there is the most charming guest house tucked away behind typical Belgium Gates. The welcome from Lyn and ease of parking are just the beginning of a perfect holiday in this beautiful part of Belgium. Her attention to detail is exemplary, the decor, ambience, location, information and that’s before you enter your bedroom. Our double room with a quaint traditional styled lounge opened up into an enclosed bathroom with a large separate shower, separate toilet and huge sink adorned with accessories. The fluffy bath towels, hand towels, face towels were renewed daily. There are communal iron steps which lead to a roof top terrace overlooking the canal and this beautiful unforgettable city. This is all before the most delectable breakfast presented with silver service, side baskets of various breads, croissants, cake stands with cheeses and hams. The variety of fruits served to the table with heart shaped water melon, passion fruits and pineapple was just sensational. Then the scrambled eggs served hot in their own petite cast iron frying pans topped with tomatoes, mushrooms, onions was the perfect ending to the most perfect breakfast overlooking the canal with views of the city in this quiet, picturesque gem of a guest house. We love Brugge and will revisit, but only if we can secure a booking at Bonifacius. My husband and I were away on a road trip fo 16 days through various countries taking us as far as Austria and back through the Romantic Road in Germany. We have stayed in many hotels, all beautiful, but we will remember Bonifacius as our prettiest, quiaint, hidden little gem forever and will return more regularly. Thank you Lyn and Mia for all your kindness, advice and hospitality. We will see you again. X
