Relais Bourgondisch Cruyce Hotel

Great location and a stunning building. Friendly staff at reception. Couple of negatives for us were that not only were the bathroom towels very small, they were also really worn and thin - definitely not good enough at this price point. Breakfast was also quite underwhelming. The dining room is small so you have to choose a time the night before which is not ideal but would not matter if the breakfast offerings were better quality…more 3 star so we went out for breakfast the second morning. Not a criticism of the hotel, just for information: great having the canal view but expect to hear the boat tour commentary all day outside the window. Very small bedroom. We were on the first floor and if you are unlucky to get someone above getting up a lot in the night it is really disturbing… not much to be done about it but worth knowing.

My husband and I stayed here for two nights as part of a larger European trip. The hotel is small, charming, and beautiful. We stayed in room 10, which is apparently where the movie "In Bruges" was filmed, and we were told it is the best room in the hotel. The windows look directly onto the canal. If you open the window, there's no screen--just a bar protecting you from falling out, so be careful, especially with your phone! And be warned, multiple boats full of tourists will be passing by, directly underneath the room, so keep your curtains closed! I actually sat in the window and waved at boats as they went by, and people always waved back lol. But yes, we could sit in the window in the morning with our coffee, wearing the bathrobes that are in the room, and enjoy the view. The hotel is very well located and within walking distance of pretty much anything. You can pick up a canal boat tour just across the street (you don't need to make reservations, it's just first come, first served). You're also right next door to a bar that has over 1,000 beers! We didn't eat breakfast at the hotel because there are tons of places where you can go and great something great to eat for a lot less money. We did, however, get (free) coffee delivered to our room multiple times. They were very fast. I would absolutely recommend this place for couples who are looking for a romantic getaway. If you are on the fence about this place, don't be. Book it. You won't be disappointed.

I had probably the best hotel experience I have ever/ will ever have on my stay here. As someone for whom staying at the hotel is likely a once in a lifetime experience, I can wholeheartedly say that the staff made the already very lovely hotel that much better. The management should be very proud of the wonderful people they have as ambassadors for the hotel. Every single staff member that I met was so incredibly welcoming and helpful making sure that every part of my stay was top notch. I may never be lucky enough to stay at this place again but I am very grateful to all the staff for making my experience truely special.
