Pousada Montreux

We spent three days in this pousada which is very nice, clean and charming. The room was cute and sufficiently large to easily get around, and we had a great balcony to sit and relax in the morning of in the evening. The staff is friendly and smiling and want to help, however it was quite difficult to communicate in English in the pousada as well as in the entire village. Making yourself understood with body language, signs and big smiles becomes quite funny

This pousada is very average. The low price in Praia do Forte is nice. There is nothing horrible about this place, but nothing nice either. The room was very small and a little cramped. The bed was weird -- like a thin mattress on a wooden platform. We slept fine, but when you first sit on the bed it's a hard surprise. We had a small balcony but it looked over an ugly internal wall/space, though it looked like some other balconies were nicer. The room wasn't dirty, but it was a little run down or poorly maintained. The location is very good. I would stay here again if there wasn't another good option, but it wouldn't be my first choice. The staff were nice, but not necessarily full of information. The breakfast was not bad, but not great. In a word: average.

I recently stayed at the Pousada Montreux for 2 nights, I chose it having read the recommendations on this site. It's true that it is very well located for the beach and vila, but the guest house itself is very basic, old fashioned looking, noisy air conditioning that keeps you awake at night, cheap hard beds and done in furniture. I couldn't quite work out why everyone said how friendly the staff were. At best I would say they were indifferent, not exactly rude, but certainly not very friendly. The breakfast was basic; cutlery dirty and cups chipped. Of course at this price I wasn't expecting a 5 start hotel, but a smile and some new air conditioning units would have gone a long way to make my holiday better :)
