A Sambura Praia

We stayed here one night either side of our trip to Canoa quebrada, solely for a place to sleep before heading back to the airport. We did not expect much, but we got even less. Located on the waterfront, across from the fish market. The promenade itself is quite animated which is fine. The hotel is all sorts of wrong: very old, in a desperate need of a revamp, we got a room on our first stay which was covered in mould (bathroom essentially), with water damage all over. The AC units are inside the rooms and sound like a space shuttle about to launch. They do work well, admittedly, but the noise produced is horrendous. The staff are somewhat willing to help, although only 1 out f the 4 receptionists we dealt with spoke English. Nothing sign language and a few words in Spanish can't fix, if you do not speak Portuguese. On our second stay, there was a party/festival on the promenade, but quite a distance away, which still proved the soundproofing to be a complete failure. The bed linen had to date back to the 70's, and the fitted sheet was too short for the mattress, meaning we battled during the night with the loose end. Breakfast was correct, seeet/savory, with some local specialties. The wifi only allows you to load pages if you hang around the reception desk. Not so practical to check-in online. Generally a very sloppy hotel (for proof, the receipt I was given at check out). No attention to detail. Even though we booked in June 2016 for a stay in February 2017, we still paid 60€ per night which in our opinion is at least twice too much. It was hardly enough for us who stayed just a few hours, so if you stay in Fortaleza a few nights, you may want to reconsider your options. We're not picky and rarely complain (as you may see on my other reviews on TA), but the Sambura is nothing short of a joke, really.

Very bad experience, rude staff, horrible dirty very small rooms and very expensive rate, plus everything else, from a water bottle to WiFi. The location is in front of the beach, but in the very end of the 'Beira Mar', where most of the fishing boats are.

I visited during the World Cup 2014 and stayed only 1,5 half nights. If I had to stay longer I think the Hotel wouldn't get an average rating. First I was brought to a room which wasn't cleaned but after I complained I got an new room which was totally fine. + very good brazilian breakfast with lots of exotic fruits, juices, cakes and all you need to have a good start of the day. + located 5 minutes from the beach and from the place where fresh sea food is selled + friendly staff - price for the internet (60 Real for 24 h!!!!!) - you have to pay for shampoo and stuff - the TV was from the 80's The room I had was okay, a little bit small, but clean and air conditioned, with a mini bar and a safe. The bath room was small but also clean and the shower had warm water. The staff didn't speak or understand english so it was a little bit tricky to communciate with my small portugese knowledge but you will alway find a way. :) So If you don't stay long and all other hotels are fully booked you can stay in this hotel but for a longer stay I wouldn' recommend this hotel.
