Skala Traveling Hotel

This place is just across the road from the bus station. Unsurprisingly it is not in an area of town I would car to loiter in but once inside the ways of the Hotel (which is actually called the Skala Travellers Hotel (and knowing that makes it easier to find) one feels safer. Obviously speaking no Portuguese did not help my relations with the staff but they really tired hard. The porter wa very helpful and even drove us to the airport at 4 am for a 6 am flight. Because of those times, we didn't have a chance to sample breakfast. The room was very clean and simple, well-stocked fridge, TV and adequate bathroom though towels a bit tired. The room was also quiet.

Think the title says it all. Cuiaba is a very unwelcoming dirty disorganised city. We stayed here for 3 nights over the World Cup following the Australian team as there was basically nowhere else to stay. Accommodation was basic, clean but otherwise substandard. Aircon worked but was noisy and too powerful for room. So you were either freezing or boiling. Breakfast very average and staff do not speak English. Extremely noisy hotel. Not sure how you become a FIFA approved and recommended hotel if you cannot greet guests from all a round the world.
