Hotel Mosaic

It was my worst night in a hotal in my entire life !! The hotel itself is pretty good, quite basic, however, THERE IS TOO MUCH NOISE OUTSIDE!!! There is no real windows so all the sounds come inside the room. At the ground floor, there is some bar, with a lot of people. I know this is not the hotel’s problem, but they should at least isolate their rooms !

Hotels in Belo Horizonte are usually pricey and it was difficult to find a decent three-star hotel in a decent neighborhood for less than R$ 120.00. So, I came up with the Mosaic Hotel (two and a half stars for R$ 126,00 breakfast included), near downtown but not exactly in the middle of downtown. The hotel is an old art-decó building so the installations are quite old, yet clean and comfortable with a fridge and cable TV. The owner, Rosangela, like most people in Minas Gerais State, is very kind, friendly and welcoming. And so are the hotel employees. The downside is the noise outside. The hotel is located at an intersection and there is a lot of traffic. It tends to wane down late at night, but if you are disturbed by cars and buses going by your window, don´t stay here. There's also a bar downstairs and it can get very noisy at night. The area is not so sketchy as usually expected from downtown areas of Brazilian cities, and there's usually people walking around at night. Besides the huge Central Market next door, which is an excellent sightseeing option for those not used to this kind of Brazilian facility, there's a mall a few yards away and the SESC-Palladium (cultural venue) is also close by. As a big city, Belo Horizonte is a nice place to visit for a couple of days, lots of green areas, but you will notice the Brazilian wealth gap here like in most big cities in Brazil.
